Lundquist is an Alabama homer. I'll never forget that play in the 2011 game, when Jefferson completed a pass to the Bama 10 hard-line. Lundquist yelled out, "Oh, no!"

People keep bringing this up as evidence that he is an Alabama homer. It's just nuts. It obviously wasn't said in that manner but I'm not going to convince anyone. It's just ridiculous that so many people seem to think that, though.

Here's a short video clip of some of the highlights from that 2011 play. It doesn't include the play I mentioned, but Lundquist also says "Oh, no!" when Eric Reid wrestles an interception away from the Alabama WR at the goal line.

He's an Alabama homer, whether or not you can see it.

Yeah, large groups of people can think stupid stuff all the time. Just look at recent presidents who have been elected. /Poli Board

I mean, my goodness. He says "Oh no!" right after he says that the pass was caught by the Alabama receiver. It's just ridiculous that people think this.

Have y'all seen the video of them calling the Alabama FSU game in 06(I think)? FSU would score and they wouldn't say a single word. When Alabama scored, they went NUTS

So he's like every broadcaster ever?

And who writes those notes? they prepare during the week the same as any team. And given his knowledge of playcalling, formations, plays they like on whatever down separates him

People like madden or gruden because they can break down for the viewer what has transpired Ina concise and understandable way, Danielson does that too, but he excels before the play. And it's not just the micro, he's great at the macro

He's the all around best.

OK. He's not but like I said earlier, I'm not going to convince anyone, so sure, he is. Why not?

Dude, watch it again. He starts to celebrate a big play by Alabama, and then says "Oh, no!" when he realizes the LSU DB has intercepted the ball.

The oh no, is an example of why Verne is great IMO

He always captures the feeling. He's way past his expiration date, but he's still good for a big call, and that voice is just classic. He's one of those mellow out a bit too much old people (which I prefer to the overly cynical and grumpy old people)

Exactly. He called it, then everyone realized what happened

The feeling is shock. That was a great call and I was pulling for LSU big time. He's a Midwesterner. He likely has no reason to have a hard on for bama...not that bias in the media doesn't occur

"Mays ... Puts it up ... Has to wait on it ... Got it! Michael Williams! ... (Gary tells Verne the pass was intercepted) ... "Oh no! Eric Reid! I thought for sure that Williams had it!"

Obviously, evidence of a huge Bama homer here.
