Hell every once in a while we should play Tech in Shreveport (grows our North LA recruiting) to open the season or Tulane in New Orleans to open.

Playing Tech in Shreveport won't happen. New Orleans would be better playing Tulane than that.

LSU and Tulane are obviously in completely different leagues now, but with the history of the series and Tulane's location in the largest city in the state, it would be nice if they could work something out. Maybe two games at LSU and one at the Superdome every now and then.

Play in Shreveport? Any idea how many seats the Indy Bowl holds? Same problem, LSU loses too much money to play any state school on the road in any stadium...tulane will never give LSU a 50-50 split to play in the Dome. Even then, throw in the revenue from concessions & parking that LSU would lose by playing in the Dome. As many times tulane's Rick Jones / baseball screwed LSU fans with games played in N.O., the hell with playing them in any sport. Why should LSU subsidize tulane's athletic dept & that what they always used LSU games in N.O. for.

Agree. Though if Tulane would up their stadium capacity to 35K plus they would probably draw alot more interest from home and home from bigger schools.

Oklahoma was supposed to play in Yulman. Ole Miss, Miss St, and Kansas St are all coming within the next 3 years.

If Tulane could at least get 50,000 in the Dome for the game we would have continued to play them in the Dome I believe. To long a trip for the LSU diehards?

The visiting team gets very little money in a home and home series. LSU would basically get money from the ticket sales for its allotment of tickets and all the other ticket revenue goes to Tulane. Also it doesn’t make financial sense for LSU because LSU can make more money paying someone to come play at Tiger Stadium or playing a neutral site game.

When Joe Alleva cancelled the 10 year home-home deal between LSU and Tulane one of the conditions of Tulane letting LSU out of the deal was that LSU would play 1 away game against Tulane before Tulane plays another game in Tiger Stadium. The reason why Tulane fans feel entitled to a home game against LSU is because LSU is contractually obligated to play an away game against Tulane.

So question… who’s putting on the game in the Dome between LSU and Florida State?

It’s a neutral site game. Both FSU and LSU are getting paid. Which works out for both sides because FSU would make no money playing LSU in BR and LSU would make no money playing FSU in Tallahassee.

Oklahoma was coming to Yulman stadium this year before Ida relocated the game. No doubt strictly for recruiting.

LSU should rethink it’s we are too good to travel stance. Perhaps LSU traveling every once in a while and throwing a bone to La Tech, Tulane and the local coaches in those areas would help LSU to lock down recruiting in New Orleans and northern Louisiana.

LSU’s supremacy in the state will never be threatened but I believe LSU benefits from playing in different parts of the state.

Finally - college football as a sport will kill itself if it becomes a sport of 40 schools instead of a sport of 120 schools.

"Help to lock down recruiting in N.O. & northern La."? National tv coverage gives LSU all the recruiting exposure it needs. It's got ZERO to do with thinking it's too good to travel. It's 1000% about money, good, bad, or ugly, that's what is is all about. You do recall LSU lost several million dollars during the China virus shutdown? College football, sports in general, is big business & has been for several years now if not longer. But throwing a bone to tulane? Screw tulane. LSU fans have a long memory with regards to the crap Rick Jones pulled on LSU baseball fans. Their basketball coach's verbal attacks on Dale Brown? Their A.D trying to pressure Skip into giving tulane more money from the Winn Dixie Challenge when it was LSU fans packing the Dome? Skip promptly walked & the Challenge collapsed.

40 are easier to follow than 120.
