That can't be real, that motivates athletes taking the field today?

That's almost as bad as having Samuel L Jackson tell you when to stand up and cheer

When did the Falcons sign Peyton Manning, move to Indianapolis, and become the Colts? The worst moment in Falcons history was when we lost the superbowl to the Denver Broncos

the defense still blows

Three years ago the Saints had a top ten defense.

Last season they were putrid and the team were still in the hunt until the end of the season.

If they regress toward their mean, then you're looking at a defense that is in the top 20. Not great, but not terrible. They won the SB with the 25th D BTW.

People talk about last year's Saints like they were a 4 win team who had no distractions. That's a huge mistake...

That's funny, considering Brees has made the Falcons his bitch over the years.

I think the Petrino affair is worse than that. Losing a SB isn't bad in the grand scheme of things.

The entirety of 07 really. Petrino situation coupled with their franchise player going to jail.

Bounty Gate not only took away a season from the Saints and fans of the team, it has made people fricking delusional.

From 09-11 they were as elite of an NFL team as it gets. 13-3,11-5 and 13-3 records. They played with an offense that no one could stop, and defenses that outside of the 2010 season, ranked in the bottom half of the league, but were opportunistic. Those defenses did all that was needed, wreck havoc by gambling. They would give up yards, but they would make plays. With an offense that is unpredictable, smart and efficient, that is all that was needed.

In comes the 2012 season, a hammer dropped down on a team. Unprecedented punishments that not only damaged the psyche, but took away what made the team great. No team could've recovered from this, not one. They were doomed from the start. The offense was still highly ranked, but it lacked creativity and the fluidity that Sean Payton brought to the table. The team was completely lost, and that's understandable.

That season is behind them and should be behind everyone else. People should erase last season from their memory, because I know the Saints have. Their leader is back, their offense that has embarrassed many teams is still in tact, and they brought in a coordinator with a scheme that closely resembles the gambling defense that was part of the massive success of 09-11.

Will the Saints match what they did in those seasons? It remains to be seen, but it would be stupid to not think they have a good shot at replicating it.

The Falcons' D is still bleh.

1. SF - complete team
2. SEA - complete team
3. ATL - great offense, average defense
4. GB - great passing offense, below-average defense
5. NO - great offense, bad defense

I disagree. Their offense has the potential to be very mediocre.

Both of these will be underachievers this year in my opinion.
