Yep.
That is why this looks so damn bad.

Either he purposely looked the other way at a heinous act after being a hard arse about other stupid shite OR he is just completely and utterly out of the loop in his own office, even though he presents himself as this hard arse dictator.

Maybe he doesn't resign immediately, but he's publicly tarnished forever and now likely with the NFLPA - so at some point he's going to be gone.

It doesn't really matter to me... The NFL is nothing but a money grab now.. The networks and the league do NOT care about what the fan wants anymore... And the players are WAY overpaid... The game is GARBAGE compared to 20 years ago...

If the NFL canceled the season tomorrow. I would NOT miss it.........

What I can't get over is Goodell has such a rep for being a hard-arse on players who do wrong...and he's willing to look the other way about a better-than-average running back decking a woman.
It doesn't make any sense. I can't imagine Goodell thinks domestic violence is no big deal.
I honestly think they let Rice's wife influence them. She begged them she had suffered enough dont suspend my mans paycheck as well. Which I somewhat understand why they did that for her. But their PR team should have told them to wake the hell up

Negative PR doesn't matter one bit if people don't actually stop watching And they won't

Nah. Sponsors who generate millions in revenue through their NFL ads are going to suddenly develop a social conscience and pull their sponsorships.

They are going to prioritize morality over revenue...you just watch!

I wonder who will be first. Nike? Under Armour? Coke? State Farm?

I'd love to see him gone too, for the record... But this is not how he goes out IMO.
Absolutely nothing positive can happen for Goodell in this scenario. He either knew and lied, or his staff didn't provide the tape to him, which makes him look incompetent. Either way he looses credibility.

Unlike Obama, who has 47% backing regardless of the situation. Goodell is NOT loved by the fans.

His only allies are the 32 owners and once they start taking heat......he gone.

The owners don't have integrity. That's how they became owners.

Not saying that they wouldn't make Goodell a scapegoat, because they would if they have to. But more than a few heads will roll before his does.

Is the NFL Network covering the AP story? None of my NFLN follows have said anything about it...

I know at least one owner that would vote him out...

I see what you're saying, but with this logic anybody could be commissioner. So why have a lying little fricking weasel at the head of your organization if you don't have to?

How can he be incompetent about something he knew nothing about? If he doesn't have the video, he doesn't have the video. Some other executive's head may roll, not Goodell's.

In some ways, yes. But he's already tainted himself with the image of "he knows all". And he straight up punished the Saints front office for pleading ignorance. So he is then the ultimate hypocrite.

The media feels lied to now; they are pack animals and they feel the fear emanating from Park Avenue. They r circling now. The owners and Goodell are taking the sHOW NO FEAR, SHOW NO PANIC, approach. Act like it's just another day and speak softly and resolutely. Fuggitabowdit. Nobody gonna buy it. they sweatin.
