Joan Rivers could be Commish RIGHT NOW and the NFL ratings would not change.

$1.8 Billion for a franchise in BUFFALO is more important to the 32 owners then a month of bad PR.

They can appoint another commissioner who will keep the revenue coming and not get them months of bad PR

I'd imagine the NFL will lose sponsors after their leader gets shown to be a liar while protecting a player knocking out a woman.

You think marketing/sponsoring/advertising with the NFL is more beneficial for the advertising entity, or "The Shield"?

Will people stop watching games if Roger isn't fired? if not, sponsors deciding to pull out will be makeing a moral decision (the right one) as opposed to a financial one. I'm of the opinion that most corporations think with their wallet and not their social conscience...with some exceptions.

A number of reasons. #1 goodell is a fricking prick and he was in the position of power. He could have said stfu or I'll make it 5 years. What could Payton say to that. I'm exaggerating the number of years to make a point. Goodell - 100% power saints - 0

I think the fact that it took months and months and Goodell dragging us through the mud the whole time is what pissed people off...we got caught doing something illegal so we got punished thats fair, but eventually lets move on and stop acting like the saints were the first to do it

it was a Saints smear campaign imo

Ding ding.

They can appoint a commissioner that will make them just as much money, but won't be a lightning rod.

And they can appoint a woman or a minority (or both) for PR purposes.

Secondly, this ordeal will make it more difficult for him to negotiate with NFLPA. He has now lost credibility not only with the players but the public as well.

Actually the players did have power (a Union), and what happened to them: Their suspensions were overturned by Goodell's daddy, Tagliabue.

The coaches didn't have that luxury so had to be good little soldiers.

Let's see what happens with the big money sponsors before we start waving good-bye to Goodell. If one jumps ship, or if one big owner jumps off board, this could cascade quickly.
