Mel Kiper just grilled him on sportscenter for not knowing any players on Rutgers' football team. (It's Rutgers, but his job is to "scout" players.")

ESPN on ESPN crime is so awesome.

But yes, McShay gets a lot of flack and it's generally well-deserved.

he was hired to get under Kiper's skin
he's so good at it, he gets under fans skin too
guy is a total fraud, you know this already Jevon Sneed

His job is to disagree with Mel Kiper on pretty much everything and create arguments and controversy. He's pretty good at it.
He sucks at evaluating talent though.

Everyone knows that he is.
Posted on 11/29/12 at 1:57 pm to shuke33
ESPN created him so Kiper would have someone to argue with and give it the Bayless vs whoever dynamic

besides all the NFL scouts?

any person in the media that evaluates players could be called a fraud.
shite even the best scouts could be called frauds.
I love how people act like it is an exact science

let me just defend kiper here
kiper built himself by himself, before ESPN. ESPN was smart enough to latch onto him long ago
mcshay is a pretty face with a good delivery ESPN hired to be their Scouts Inc. face, and to be the rhetorical opponent to kiper. i don't even know if mcshay really does stuff himself. i think scouts inc. tells him what to say

A common name we’ve heard when it comes to McShay is Andre Woodson. McShay championed Woodson during the 2007 season. Woodson ended up being a sixth-round pick, and he’s now out of the league.
woodson's career was derailed at the senior bowl b/c mike martz fricked up his mechanics and he became a mental mess afterwards
also
quote:
On draft day McShay will look like a fool because whether or not you like Clausen as a person he is very talented,” the source said. “He has more training and game time in a pro system than any quarterback in the draft. His improvement from ’08 to ’09 was tremendous. If Notre Dame had a defense, Charlie Weis would still be there coaching. Offense was not the problem.
mcshay was more correct about jimmy than this scout ripping mcshay. scouting is an art, not a science
scouting also involves projecting things that are impossible to predict, like how hard somebody works once drafted, system fit, etc

True, but you know his dad helped a ton.

i'm just talking about building his little cottage industry without ESPN's help, not individual help
