Anyone familiar with Shoeless Joe Baseball mitts?

Looking at buying a Shoeless Joe Pro Series glove for my 13 year old son.
Anyone familiar with these? They have great reviews for feel...but are they also good and durable?
He is an infielder and we are looking at buying a new glove that will hopefully last throughout highschool.
Any opinions on this brand or suggestions?

My son had one when he was 12 and loved it. A few of the boys on his team had them and I never heard any complaints.

They are good. I find them a little on the heavy side. I don’t think you can go wrong with the tried and true Wilson A2000.

Ok, good to hear.
My main concern was if I'm going to spend that much on a glove is that it holds up to the daily wear and tear of highschool practice and games.

I had a Wilson. Although I had less errors with a larger Rawlings.

It's a good glove for a dad or a kid rec player, or just to put on a shelf (they have some really cool vintage-look patterns). Not what you are wanting if you are looking for a gamer that's gonna last a kid a few years and work for him in HS. Spend a few bucks more and get a Wilson A2000 or Rawlings HOH. Either of these will require real breaking-in, but a very big uptick in quality from the Shoeless Joe glove.

Ok. Thats what I was kinda wondering about.
It is a cool looking glove....but for the money I am wanting more functionality.

Wasn't Joe an outfielder?

Yep. You're on the right track now. I'm a big fan of A2000's (even more than A2K) because their patterns fit my hand better than Rawlings in general, but I have some HOH and Pro Preferred gloves that I like. FWIW, I generally prefer Wilson infield patterns and Rawlings OF patterns.

I think thats what we are gonna do.
He likes the T-Web and the Rawlings.
Thanks for the suggestions.

If you can wait about a month until the red stick tent sale , you may find a deal..last year all the Rawlings were 1/2 price

Yeah started with a Wilson.
Switched to a bigger Rawlings as a youth-H.S. and the glove lasts until this day.
Rawlings can get a little floppy but not in a bad floppy, they still have integrity and it looks the same and feels the same from so long ago.
I mean, I can use the glove today from 25 years ago in any rec game. I had the Rawlings Ozzie Smith glove. Never had to buy another glove. That was from 1986 until now.

Ooh....We might just do that. Thanks.

If he is an infielder, you’re probably gonna go through multiple mits over the next 4 yrs with all the work being put in.

I found the 11.5" Shoeless Joe I bought for my kid to be thin in the palm (lots of sting) as opposed to the A2000 he uses now.
Upside was it was game ready after only a couple of practices.

My son had the same glove pictured and he found it to be"floppy" and didn't care to use it in the outfield. He did use it while he pitched. The first base mitt was floppy and did not hold up well compared to the A2000.

rawlings > Wilson all day
but not going to matter if you playing infield with an outfield glove
