Barstool started as a gambling based paper way back when
They aren't getting into it because of Penn. Penn acquired them because of their place in the gambling market
There is still tons of non gambling content

I never said otherwise, all I’m saying is that it’s not good content.

I'm not big into sports betting and don't do much barstool stuff. But I have a question: How can Dave run a sports book, but also influence the bets with by giving out his picks on all those podcasts and shows? Like this weekend, he gave picks for UK, TX Tech, and some other game that he lost on, can't remember which one. So, he personally "loses" but the sports book just collects the cash from all those bettors he "influenced" to follow his picks.
Idk enough about the ins and outs of sports betting or the barstool business, but it just seems a little shady and there is definitely a line that could be crossed. Not saying he did anything wrong, it's just not a good look imo.

IDK if barstool changed or I changed, but five years ago I loved like all their shite and now most of it elicits an eye roll from me

Only Barstool content I take in right now is PMT, the Trivia show, and the NFL show on Sundays with Deion. Mainly cause the Sundae Conversation is pure gold.
The rest of the stuff seems to be crap.

Dave doesn’t “run a sports book” lol

the Trivia show
Take a listen to the Twisted History Podcast. Excellent show.

He's said it a couple of times. Someone called the Yak a couple of weeks ago and asked him about his wife allowing him to always work late and go on all of these trips and shite and he said that she's all in on supporting him right now so that he can make money for them and then retire away from NYC and be a dad. Think he specifically mentioned 40 as a target.
Interesting, that’s a lot of money he’d be waking away from though. Easier said than done.

Exactly
Unless you’re forced to retire you don’t just stop when making that salary

They can cash out their stock in like 4 years. Then he can probably do 5 hours a week of podcasting from his basement in Chicago and still rake in a ton.
I'm sure Penn will back up the truck for he and Dave to try to squeeze a couple more years out of them if things are going good then though.

Would be odd to see Barstool without Dave & Big Cat.

Dave and big cat are barstool. It would fold like a cheap tent without them

Yeah I don’t think he’ll go away forever but I think he’d something low stress that doesn’t take away time from his family. I’ve kind of burned out on Pardon My Take anyway because it’s becoming repetitive but it’s had one of the best podcast runs. I’d choose Yak over PMT

Same, it’s not what it used to be.
I’ll listen every now and then when there’s an interesting guest but I skip more episodes than I listen to at this point.

Both can be true I guess. It used to be fresh and original, if they’re doing the same stuff for four years, it’s no longer fresh and original.

i agree, im just being a dick. theyve literally had the same segments for years and PFT makes the same 10 jokes. i listen if i really like a guest but im mostly out on it.
Posted on 9/29/20 at 8:52 pm to GreatLakesTiger24
100% agree on PFT. He ruins interviews with his “jokes”. I used to listen to PMT religiously. Now it’s something I may check out on a plane flight.
And being an LSU fan, I still gave up on them during our run. PMT was great, but got old. Rinse and repeat. Dan Patrick is the only one I’ll still listen to.
