The last 3 minutes of every game take 15-20 minutes. It’s unreal how many timeouts they get.

If you're talking about the women's game, each team gets 4. Don't blame the coaches for saving them until the end.

I take it you have never played full court basketball... If you have you would not be complaining about the TO's.

There's no reason for coaches to get any timeouts, they are feet away from the players and communicate with them constantly.

I never thought about it until I became an Aussie rules fan and they don't have any timeouts. It's a game of runs like basketball and teams stop runs just as well as in bball with no timeouts.

Just have assigned TV timeouts spread throughout the game and let the end of the game play out in real time.

You’ll get downvoted to hell but entire halves of gameplay without commercials is absolutely brilliant.

One of the many reasons I can’t bear to watch it.

so here's the difference between men's & women's college basketball

men's has media timeouts built in every 4 minutes... and both teams have 1 timeout that they lose at halftime if they don't use it in the 1st half

women's basketball has media timeouts built in every 5 minutes and I don't believe they have a "use it or lose it" timeout

all the built in media timeouts allow coaches to hold onto their timeouts to the end of the game typically

NBA is a completely different animal with its timeouts

It’s the constant monitor reviews that are the problem.

Whoever decided we need to review every call under two minutes can GTFO.

Not me. I love timeouts. All that basketball is a grim interruption.

In all seriousness, though, there's nothing better than when a team has a timeout left, but just inbounds and plays for a shot at the end of a close game. It automatically raises my heart rate, even if it's January SoCon game

That’s mostly because of all the fouls

it's also completely absurd how fouls that have been going on non-stop the entire game (that weren't called earlier), somehow and all of a sudden get called every possession in the final two minutes of every game.

I can only assume you've never played or watched basketball as the timeouts mean the players are mostly standing around twiddling their thumbs at the end

This absolutely means you've never played or coached basketball before. There is nary a moment where coaches aren't coaching players, and players aren't being coached. It's all hands on deck, especially in late game moments, even on the pee-wee level. It's pretty intense.

The more I’ve gotten into watching the premier league the harder it’s gotten to watch other sports like basketball and football because of the all the tv and regular timeouts. They’ll obviously never do away with the tv timeouts and likely wouldn’t do away with the in-game timeouts but it’d make a much better product imo
