Feel the same as I do every year; I'll watch but am never "fing stoked" about a game my team (the Texans) never play in.

It should be a good matchup

I think you're misunderstanding the general sentiment of the OP and others.
quote:

it's also kind of fricked up to feel so bad over Kobe and his daughter, and yet seem to not give a whit about the other 7 people who died in the very same event.
I don't think that most people "don't care" about the other victims of the crash. I think that most people just didn't know the others and had no personal connection with them.
quote:

It's the same kind of carnage that happens all over America every day. Usually it involves automobiles instead of helicopters....
This is a true statement, but, again, if there's no personal connection with the victim, then most people just see it as a sad part of life.
quote:

I just don't see how people take it personally.
From this, I can only conclude that you are no a fan of the NBA or basketball in general or the Olympics for that matter.

The SB used to mean a whole lot more 30 years ago. It's lost its luster. I'll watch but just not pay that much attention to it.

Gotta be the least amount of attention a Super Bowl has ever gotten the week of, and probably the only time it hasn’t been the biggest sports story the week of the Super Bowl
That ^^ is exactly why I'm pumped to watch it AND no Patriots involved gives the SB a fresh look at two new opponents.

As we get closer I’m actually more excited. Mostly to hang out with some friends and have a good time.

I do think it’ll be a tightly contested game though decided in the 4th and could go either way

I’m enjoying Shanahan’s various jokes and references to 28-3.

What does Bryant have to do with the Super Bowl?

Nothing...shite happens. Life sucks, then you die. Get over it.

Yea, people die in horrible accidents every day. Just because it was a famous athlete doesn't make it any worse. But I guess our celebrity obsessed social media world has to make it bigger than it really is.

i cant believe people are still upset about Kobe

Hell most people dont stay upset this long when a cousin or uncle dies. very odd to me. Especially people saying it's taking enjoyment out of other things for them

I felt bad the first day and was shocked... but I'm more shocked now at the way people are acting

I think it's cool for the Chiefs to have a chance to win the SB 50 years apart.
