he gets moved to FS from CB b/c he's not athletic enough to play CB (and he's a willing tackler)

he also gets moved to punt returner

these 2 don't correlate

not being athletic enough to play CB, but being athletic enough to be a PR? naw, not really

What a clown. Do you even watch football? When's the last time you saw an NFL safety returning punts? I can only think of one college safety off hand and that was Tom Zbikowski.

They probably don't want to say they moved him because he lacks the instincts to play CB. Because that's what it really was. He was constantly getting himself out of position last year and it had little to do with athleticism.

he's not athletic enough to play CB. this was the stigma on him coming out of miami, and his 4.5 confirmed it

A CB out of the U that's not athletic enough. Talk about irony.

Chad Jones SHALL NOT be defined by position. Chad Jones plays Chad, a dynamic new position played by only the greatest.

A slower 40 doesn't mean he lacks athleticism. It just means he lacks top end speed. Conversely he had a vert close to 40 and quick cone and shuttle times. His biggest knocks coming out were his misreads, poor reaction time and obviously his lack of top end speed. I never once heard athleticism.

His athleticism was enough to be a decent #2 CB, but he constantly put himself out of position to where his speed became a glaring weakness.

Ehhh...he's really only played in nickel packages, so he hasn't really played strictly safety yet, but there is no mistaking he's a safety.

It's not really uncommon for a safety to return punts. Ed Reed? I know there have been more.

He doesn't have the lateral quickness to stay with the top receivers so he was moved to safety. Returning punts isn't all about lateral quickness, it's also about vision, patience, and waiting for your blocks to set up. Rolle also had 3 interception returns for touchdowns in 2007 so he has proven that he's a good return man.

The only safety I can remember returning punts is Ed Reed, which was only temporary for a game or two while their primary return-man was injured.

maybe he;s got sure hands and his lack of top end speed doesn't matter as much on punt returns.

i mean, not being fast enough in the back pedal or not having the hips to play the position . there's a lot of reasons he could have been moved from corner.

but you need really good hips/speed to be a good returner

pretty much the physical characteristics that make you a good CB make you a good PR, and rolle had to be moved from CB due to lack of these. so i thought it was funny that he was being tried out at PR

it's not the exact same kinesthetically.

but i was surprised to see him back there myself. Don't understimate the hands part of it. Or even the not afraid of contact part of it.

isn't breaston on the cards? that's what confused me.
