No, he will not ever make the HOF.

But there are only about 10 or 12 pitchers who are still in the league that have been pitching since 1995.

Thats how many HOFers get in. Its tough to get in when you play your career for a shitty team.

I'm not saying he won't get in. He just shouldn't be 1st ballot. He doesn't deserve it.

he;d have the higest ERA of any pitcher in the HOF if he were inducted today

Mike Mussina makes the HOF before Pettitte

I think Mussina should get in. He played for the Yankees, so he got a lot of run support, but also spent his entire career in the AL East, which has been the best division in baseball over the last 15 years. And he won a lot of gold gloves.

Plus, he could have gotten 300 if he wanted it. He was still good in his last few years.

I think they both get in eventually.

You don't know much about the HOF voters. When has he ever been the number one starter on his team? One or two years max.

Eh maybe. Guy got rocked quite a bit. Give him props for sticking around as long as he did.

No because some who vote will link him to Clemens. Clemens who should be will not be and there is no way in hell that Pettite is better pitcher than Clemens.

maybe?

Pettitte

229 wins
2150 Ks
3.91 ERA
2 time all star

Mussina

270 wins
2813 K's
3.68 ERA
5 time all star

if u think Pettitte's resume' is better, i dont know what to tell you.

David Wells is more comparable to Pettite than Mussina. is Wells a HOF too? frick no

No chance with that win total. He will add maybe twenty more wins. No chance at the HOF.

I'm not saying Pettitte deserves it either. I think the HOF is kinda shaky for the next 20 years

Absolutely not. If you want to find the best postseason pitcher of our generation, keep looking down the Yankees roster until you reach "Rivera, Mariano". Petitte is a good pitcher but he's only finished in the top 3 of the Cy Young once, he has never been the WS MVP, and he's been an All Star twice. He's not even top 50 in any meaningful pitching category.

If he makes the Hall, Bert Blyleven should be allowed to stab him in the neck.

doubt it, but for some reason Schilling seems to be like he will be a 1st ballot and I don't really agree with that.
Schilling:
216 wins
3.46 e.r.a
3116 K's
3 WS
20 seasons
Pettite
229 wins
3.91 E.R.A
2150 K's
4 WS
15 seasons
If Pettite doesn't come back for another year and Schilling is a 1st ballot HOFer, Pettite should be in on the 3rd ballot

I don't think Schilling is a HOFer either but the media is saying he's a first ballot. If Schilling gets in, Pettite should too, IMO

Schilling has a far better case than Petitte.
