Maybe so. But in the meantime you think you folks can come up with something more original everytime we land a recruit

I concede that point, but UK basketball is synonymous with cheating. That's something that I'm sure rolls off your back because you've heard a million times, but that doesn't change that fact that is common perception.

I do think that there are CBB coaches that aren't cheating though. Trent Johnson being one of them.

But you don't have to defend Cal to me. I agree with the guy that wrote the article I was referencing.

What does Leonard Hamilton have to do with anything?

And it is pretty much undisputed that Cal is in the running for the dirtiest coach of all time

That just because people refuse to call out guys like Roy Williams.

He's easily one of the dirtiest coaches out there. Unless everyone here really subscribes to the notion that he was pulling top recruits to Florida State on a decade long NCAA Tournament drought out of sympathy.

John Wooden was pretty dirty. Of course we didn't "hear" about it until well after he couldn't get popped for it.

If it's a coach and he's winning there's a better chance that he's dirty then he's not.

That's a shocker. I really have never heard this one before. Have some links or proof other than:

Gee, I wonder why FSU is able to recruit in Basketball.

eta: this thread isn't about FSU or Leonard Hamilton. You're the first person I have EVER heard say that Hamilton is a dirty coach.

But don't deflect, there's no denying that Calipari will scorch UK when it's all said and done.

I saw a quote from an article about the twins that said calling out Cal for cheating is like calling out Lance Armstrong for doping.

It doesn't matter that they're cheating, because they're competing against a bunch of other guys that are cheating.

ETA: I didn't quote it exactly, but that's the gist of it, and it makes sense.

College basketball is a dirty business. There are maybe 10-15 major programs that are, relatively speaking, clean. The degree of dirtiness is what most people are really arguing over. Most people disagree with me on this, but I really do think the 1 and done rule is going to keep making it worse and worse.

Hey, kudos to him for being able to not be caught.

I know Chris Singleton's recruitment was dirty as hell.

You're the first person I have EVER heard say that Hamilton is a dirty coach.

His very mentor toed the line in recruiting on a regular basis and won a championship and got to a couple Final Fours at Kentucky doing so. He was certainly no angel on staff at that time either. But I can't find my links from the 70s so you'll have to forgive me on that one.

And I'm not deflecting at all. You don't see me anywhere in this thread saying Cal hasn't cheated, isn't cheating, or won't cheat. But there's some naive folks in this thread who has never been around a D-1 program if they honestly think Calipari is some rare, extraordinary breed.

Cal can recruit who he wants, it still won't stop us from winning the SEC.

And no one is saying that every program is clean.

My only argument to this is it was bad before the one and done rule even showed up.

I'd actually make the argument that recruiting was dirtier pre-internet because it in itself is a part of a system of checks and balances for the NCAA that include but is not exclusive to the change of sports journalists into primarily investigative reporters, Twitter, and camera phones.

CCNY's point shaving scandal is a point for me in that argument. 7 programs, several of which didn't survive the scandal, with several players from those programs involved. I can't imagine something of that gravity happening today.

So if there's not a link it doesn't exist?

Come on now.

If what's going on at UNC happened at UK instead, ESPN and the rest of the sports media would've been all over it like stink on shite.

Not particularly. I do know it involved a package deal with Pierre Jordan, whose Dad was his AAU coach that he was living with at the time. But unfortunately, I don't have a link. So it didn't happen.

ETA: And for every dirty college basketball coach there's an AAU coach who is even dirtier ten fold. AAU has done more to elevate cheating in college basketball then any one and done rule.

I'd be Chris Singleton's best friend too if he made my Dad some money and got me a ride along with it.
