Patrick Peterson is overrated as a cornerback. He's basically mediocre

Overrated by whom? The team that drafted him 5th overall? The same team that gave him a $70 million extension?

Or maybe he is overrated by the players who vote on this:

4× Pro Bowl (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014)
2× First-team All-Pro (2011, 2013)
Ranked #55 in the Top 100 Players of 2012
Ranked #33 in the Top 100 Players of 2013
Ranked #22 in the Top 100 Players of 2014
Ranked #19 in the Top 100 Players of 2015

Apparently the overrating is getting worse the longer he is in the league.

The fact that people still don't acknowledge Chris Harris among the top 5 at his position is laughable. The guy is amazing.
No kidding. He's a shutdown corner than can play on the outside and in the slot.

Since we decided to bring in actual stats, PP is top 5 in tds allowed while being 3rd in terms of guarding the #1 WR. So people saying he isnt a top corner are delusional

TDs allowed on CBs over past 3 seasons:
1. Chris Harris 3
2. Richard Sherman 6
3. Darrelle Revis 6
4. Joe Haden 16
5. Patrick Peterson 21

That isn't the top 5, IIRC.

Aqib Talib hasn't given up 21 touchdown in the last 3 years.

LSU fans are fragile as frick. It's tough to say anything about LSU or its alumni because of their sensitivity.

Peterson is your typical 5* recruit perceived as being much better at his position than he ever really was.

I don't say this often but Literally everyone in football that gets paid to evaluate talent disagrees with you. PP was a beast in highschool and college. He is an above average nfl cb that prolly weighs a little to much to have the hips to be an all time great.

Harris not making the 2015 nfl top 100 should make the entire list bullshite. There are 2 cbs on the planet I would take over him and that's it.

Patrick is a great athlete still thriving on his former 5 star status, draft position, and punt returns from his rookie year. He is an average starting NFL corner. Top 15 or 20, but not close to elite.

He gets credit for playing man on the leagues #1 WRs, but is routinely embarrassed by them. He just got Julio Jones a monster deal after last years clinic. I've seen mediocre WRs like Crabtree school him for TDs. There are no shut down corners in the NFL currently. There are about 5 to 7 Wrs that are unstoppable.

Instead of going for the sure tackle with two hands, PP tried to make up for being burned by vainly attempting to strip the ball.

bullshite.

Top 15 or 20,

This makes your first statement dumb. Average dbs aren't ranked in the top 15-20. There are approximately 220 cbs in the nfl and top 15-20 isn't average.

Yeah, calling him mediocre is just silly.

Dumbass statement of the year.....and Vandy boy obviously doesn't understand the meaning of the word "thriving" to boot.

What I noticed in the clip is how Amari looks bigger. He doesn't look out of place on the field with pros. The rest of the clip putting PP on skates I wasn't surprised about.

I've said that 3 times on the Bama board in the last week(and say it in general for college kids after they get to the NFL). They get huge. He's WAY bigger. Not only is he bigger but he hits the shite out of dudes in the NFL and refuses to go down. He was never soft at UA but he absolutely refuses to touch the ground in the NFL. It's wild.

He looked bigger to me at Bama from his Freshman -> Sophomore year. Was 210 here his Junior year, I could see him being 215-220 now.
