He won't win it, obviously, but I honestly think he is the literal Most Valuable Player. His numbers were pretty amazing considering he missed 25% of the season. Hit .286 with 30 homers and 100 RBI with a .933 OPS and 14 stolen bases in only 124 games. But his value cannot be measured by mere numbers. He absolutely changes the Yankees' entire lineup just by being in it. It filters up and down the lineup and makes everyone so much better. Texiera would not have had the year he had without ARod hitting behind him. Damon would not have had the year he had without Texiera having the year he had and so on.

I agree with all you say, But Jeter should win it. He kept the Yanks afloat while a-rod was out!!! My vote is Jeter.

Considering the Twins made the playoffs, the only claim Jeter or Tex had over Mauer is gone. I seriously believe that anyone who votes anyone over Mauer for MVP is either: a shameless NY homer OR a complete moron.

Seriously. The dude leads in AVG, OBP, and SLG AND HE'S A CATCHER, the most important defensive position. I cannot think of a single logical argument against Mauer.

I agree with Mauer. Not even close. But if were between two yanks Jeter is the one IMO.

I understand all this, which is why I think Mauer will and should win the MVP. I am not advocating ARod win it, just saying that I think he's literally the MVP imo.

This is not a stat to say that Jeter deserves to win over Mauer. I am just pointing this out.

Everyone loves Mauer and gives him so much credit for leading the Twins in the 2nd half of the season to the AL Central title.

Joe Mauer's avg. since July 1: .355
Derek Jeter's avg. since July 1: .360

A little confused here - are you arguing for AL MVP or 'Most Valuable Yankee?'

Yea what a choke artist. .355? Who does he think he is tip-toeing the mendoza line like that and claiming credit for the Twins second half surge?

I'm saying that Mauer has been awesome. But Jeter has been awesome as well. He has been on par with Mauer the whole 2nd half of the season.

Mauer should win it, and will win it. I'm just saying.

Cano is awesome and will win a batting title and MVP at some point in his career.

Get off Tommy Hanson's dick, or any other Brave who will choke down the stretch in 2010.

If Mauer had the protection Jeter had, even Jesus couldn't strike him out.
