I didn't know about the stroke, but I also thought something wasn't right.

Maybe he can get most of it back, like Peter Gammons (the baseball guy) has.

I think so, but it is not acceptable to wear a red shirt with orange socks.
Jesus could strike anyone out, or strike them dead.

He won't win it, obviously, but I honestly think he is the literal Most Valuable Player. His numbers were pretty amazing considering he missed 25% of the season. Hit .286 with 30 homers and 100 RBI with a .933 OPS and 14 stolen bases in only 124 games. But his value cannot be measured by mere numbers. He absolutely changes the Yankees' entire lineup just by being in it. It filters up and down the lineup and makes everyone so much better. Texiera would not have had the year he had without ARod hitting behind him. Damon would not have had the year he had without Texiera having the year he had and so on.

A little confused here - are you arguing for AL MVP or 'Most Valuable Yankee?'
Confession - I played soccer a lot as a teenager and in college, and I even liked it.

I just can't stand to watch it. :snoozer:
Whichever team has Ryan Hoag will win it all. Career practice squad superstar in the NFL.
Maybe if soccer was a real sport...
Same dynamic. He's the biggest man in a small city. Lives on a fraction of what he's paid (seriously, he gets an allowance from his mom!) Wants nothing more than to hang out with his friends. Fan of all his local childhood teams. Has more money in the bank than he could burn with a flamethrower in one afternoon.

Why would he leave? Only one reason: to play for a winner. But the Twins have been winning.
Mauer's well on his way to HOF.

Five seasons, three batting titles (including the first, second, and third ever won by a catcher in the AL), highest single-season average ever by a catcher.

Yes, he'll probably get moved to 3B, 1B, or RF at some point.

Yes, he'd probably take less money to stay home. Right now he has 20-50 friends and family at every game, he lives on a hobby farm 30 miles north of Minneapolis, and he likes to hang out at a sandwich shop across the street from his old high school.

Think back, Kent Hrbek and Kirby Puckett are among a number of players who have taken less to stay with the Twins, and Mauer fits the mold.
Has to be miracle on ice.

Close second (for me anyway) Dale Earnhardt finally wins the Daytona 500.
These last few posts must be jokes. Decker on pace for 100+ catches, 1500+ yards for the season, doesn't get a mention?
Dan Deierdorf
Jack Tatum
Conrad Dobler

True story - someone asked Dobler about his reputation as a bad, crazy man. He said that he once saw Deierdorf pick up an opposing player and throw him at a goalpost.

BTW, on that clip of Tatum knocking Sammy White's helmet off - White bit a big part of his tongue off on that play, had no memory of the play, but hung on to the ball. That's toughness.
Decker
Bryant
Green
Lafell
Floyd (out)

If you haven't checked Decker out you really should. 2nd in the country in catches & first in yards so far this season. He's big and strong as an ox, and fast enough for the NFL.
