re: Alabama vs. Clemson - National Championship lull

I didn't see much of this "lull" last year around the country. Maybe it was because I was going and OSU was in it, or maybe because it was "new" and "pretty." I will probably watch the first half, and if it is compelling, see how long I want to watch.
I also don't think Bama winning games is bad. It creates an immediate storyline every week. I also, however, get sick of the narrative that Bama is so far ahead of everyone. Hell, OSU is 2 plays away from potentially playing for 3 in a row, and weren't eligible in an undefeated 2012 season, when they would have gone over Bama. Woulda, coulda, shoulda applies just as much for OSU as Bama since 2010

Blame it on Saban. Can't wait for him to retire, relegating Bama to mediocrity, so that the other teams can get on with the program and have a shot. Alabama is a pro-team masquerading as a college team. 'The process' makes me want to puke

the least hyped, least talked about National Championship game in some while
the nation has ultra bama fatigue and nobody outside of carolina gives the slightest shite about clemson.

The ratings tonight are going to be terrible. It's just an uninteresting, regional matchup

I think the game will get lower ratings than a Monday Night Football game. The game is too late for college football and most people outside of the South don't have an interest in this game except for Ohio State and Michigan State fans who played Alabama this year and last year won't care. I can even see MSU and OSU fans just watching to see Alabama lose which is't much of a incentive.
But I am hoping the game gets low ratings and is boring because Alabama is on it and they get enough attention.

it will, not only because of the teams but because as mentioned they won't kick off til damn near 9pm on a Monday night.
I'd be very curious to see the viewership numbers in teh 1st half compared to 2nd half. I bet a crap ton of people turn it off and head to bed before the 3rd quarter.

Bama fatigue on top of a team that has zero national appeal.
No one outside of South Carolina gives two shits about Clemson.

This.
Some (neutral) friends and I are going to get a couple of pizzas and beers to watch it, mainly to make our Monday a lot more tolerable. However, it really doesn't have much luster to it. Clemson is too regional of a school and Alabama, while dominant, isn't the most exciting team to watch.

Exactly, New Year's Eve versus a random Monday night
