Yankees vs Red Sox should be a good one this weekend

The Barves aren't really going to blow the NL East crown...are they?

Hopefully Nasty Nestor can keep it rolling, Tqins won so Yankees are a game behind Boston and 2 up on the Jay's.

Mariners are making moves as well

CHICAGO — All the greats that have come and gone and gone to Cooperstown as Cardinals in the past eight decades never experienced anything like this. Stan Musial did more things than any Cardinal has ever done or ever will do, and he never had a team that did this. Four of the men to manage the Cardinals in the past 60 years are in the Hall of Fame, and they never piloted a team that dispatched opponents with this regularity, this much certainty. The Swifties didn’t. The El Birdos didn’t. Whiteyball had one of the best runs of baseball ever — and didn’t run off a streak like this.

Listen to this gem on the NESN broadcast when Stanton hit the grand slam. Don't you just love listening to the agony of defeat? It's almost as good as Paul Allan on KFAN when the Vikings blew the short FG at the end of the game.

Yankees now control the WC

3 upcoming vs Jay's and finish with 3 against the Ray's
Boston has 3 vs the O's and finish against the Nationals
Jay's have the Yankees and O's
Mariners have 3 against Oakland and 3 against the Angels left

Man that game was insane. I would love nothing more than the Red Sox to miss the playoffs. It would also be hilarious if the Blue Jays and Mariners snuck into the wild card game

End of the weekend update. 1 week remaining!

A couple of huge series coming up

-A’s/Mariners 3 game series starting tomorrow
-NYY/Jays 3 game set starting Tuesday. Toronto desperately needs 2/3
-Braves/Phillies (Phillies probably need a sweep but 2/3 would keep things interesting)

Big night for the Braves getting it to 2.5 heading into the Philly series.

Win the series and clinch.

Don’t get swept and still in a good spot.

Feel like I’m missing something obvious but how is Atlanta’s lead 2.5 games when they both only have 6 games remaining?

It says Atlanta’s record is 83-72 (155 games) but they don’t play tomorrow and their schedule only shows 6 games remaining. That’s 161…? Is it something goofy regarding the Padres game they resumed Friday?

ETA: Looks like same thing with Miami and the Mets. Both have played 155 but only have 6 games remaining. Everyone else in the MLB either plays their 156th game tomorrow or have already played 156.

Looks like the Braves had a rainout against the Rockies on 9/16 that hasn't been made up yet.

They likely won't play that game unless it ends up mattering in the standings. It's not unusual at all for some teams to finish a season with less than 162 games because the makeup games don't matter to the standings.

ETA: In 2019 the White Sox and Tigers both played 161.
In 2018 the Marlins and Pirates both played 161.
In 2016 it happened to a bunch of teams, looks like the Indians, Tigers, Marlins, Braves, Cubs, and Pirates all played 161.

The Braves have a rained out game against the Rockies that may or may not be played depending on it's relevance to playoff races. If the Braves have already clinched, it won't be played.

So if Atlanta finishes Sunday a half game up they’d have to play Rockies on Monday then if they lose that Phillies on Tuesday?
