The owners that need to fill out an arena 41+ times a year. Are you new to sports?
Changes nothing I said. NBA just seems like it's in a downward spiral and they're trying anything to keep people interested.

The last 2 years were the highest attendance in NBA history, and they just signed a $70+ billion media rights deal.
TV ratings are down for every sport, media is consumed differently these days, that's not an NBA problem, it's global.
NBA league pass sales were up 38% 2 years ago and up 50% more over that last year.

Solution was to make the courts an epic eye sore and mid season Ship
Not shortening the season with an Xmas Kickoff

And you guys are suggesting shortening the season. It's a good thing you aren't in charge of making business decisions for the NBA

The game has been solved and therefore ruined.

I have been for a very long time
They just got Xmas stolen from them from the NFL
That should be the kick off with 4 games of the best teams

They would be more profitable but its not shocking you dont ubderstabd that. I mean you think Bronnys Contract was a good idea

Less games would be more profitable? That's a wild take. Even the nfl just went to a longer season to increase profit against the players unions wishes.

Lebron took a pay cut so they could pay his son the league minimum. Without Lebron taking a pay cut they would be paying someone else the league minimum while also paying Lebron more money, which would be more expensive for the Lakers.

Broadcast/Cable TV is dying and everything is switching over to streaming. Soon all sports will be subscription based.

Pretty much. It needs some rule changes.

You are a perfect fit to run the NBA into the ground like Silver
Fake Laker fans are so fricking stupid

I don't like the Lakers haha I'm a pelicans fan. It's basic second grade math. Lebron took a $3 million dollar pay cut because they drafted his son. Bronny is making the league minimum at $1,157,000.
So the options this year are pay
Lebron $48,500,000
Plus Bronny $1,157, 000
For a total of $49,657,000
Or don't draft bronny, Lebron doesn't take a pay cut, you still have to pay $1,157,000 to whoever takes that roster spot, it's the league minimum.

The local tv access is a big part of the problem
This is the biggest part of it for me. I consider myself a fan of the Pels. I haven't watched more than 3 of their games this year. I don't have access to their games as I did in the past with Ballys and now that they are terrible I'm not going to seek out how to find them.
I will watch nationally televised games if they are good teams. To some extent, I do dislike what the offenses of certain teams has become. The Celtics AVERAGING 51 3 point shots a game is absurd.

NBA took over the rights. Only way to watch pels is to pay a subscription to nba for pelicans games only. They aren't included in the regular league pass (I have that)

I watched the Game 7 doc about the Mavericks and Spurs from 2006.
That was more exciting than any game they play now. Sad cus I was a hard core NBA fan.
Now I hate the drama and style of play/ 3 point shooting contest.

Yeah they suck, but Trey Murphy is fun to watch.
I'll just root for the Thunder and Cavs in the playoffs this year

Superstars are aging out with no clear replacements, the regular season is too long, injuries ruin too many seasons for too many teams, guys don't give consistent effort in the regular season, too many teams make the playoffs, and games start too late for central and east coast time zones.
Agree with this. 3 things I would like the NBA to explore.
1) Less regular season games.
2) Bring back defense. The banishment of 7 footers to beyond the arc is dumb. Allow an enforcer to destroy someone that comes into the lane and back a defender to the basket.
3) Get rid of the one and done rule for college players. Go to baseball rules. Allow high schoolers to be drafted. If they aren’t, they aren’t eligible to be drafted for three years. This would make the college product much better and would build in a fanbase for the NBA. I followed guys who played at LSU. I have no affinity for the one and done guys and don’t follow and won’t watch them. If Boston was playing, I’d watch for a while to see Big Baby get into the game. I don’t have that connection with a guy like Naz Reid.

gambling is better than NFL. You get the equivalent of an NFL Sunday noon slate 3 times per week and then also have games every single day (except during this nba cup stuff)
More games does not equate a better gambling environment
The NBA has much more variance in outcomes than the NFL.

You also have a lot more choices of things to bet on. Player points, rebounds, assists are all variables that are matchup based and there are enough late lineup changes that Vegas does get beaten more frequently than trying to beat them on rush yards or receiving yards.
