They are similar QBs no matter which way you look at it.
Brees has just had a very good coach the last 5 years and a more stable team, which has led to playoffs wins and a SB win.

Just for reference, a few days ago PJ said that a team could win back-to-back Super Bowls after going 7-9 in both seasons before a 2-loss team could win back-to-back national championships.
His logic included that fact that "no 7-9 team has ever won a playoff game," despite it happening two years ago to the Saints. Also, you may have noticed that he then went on to argue the other side of his argument.
