I know no one in the modern world watches baseball as it's boring as frick to anyone under 40 but holy shite analytics ran a train on this loser sport

If you remove the intangible from sports, it has no soul or any reason to exist

There has to be that level of illogical thinking for it to be entertaining

I want insanity, not predictability

Some NFL preseason games outperform mlb games LOL

Insanity still happens.

Analytics makes teams more efficient, and gives them better chances to win.

And isn’t winning the ultimate goal?

Yeah I just love watching horrible officiating determining outcomes of games and having penalty flags thrown on every play

What a dumb frick of a thread.

I will admit it has made the sport pretty unbearable

There is absolutely no flow to a series. It’s so damn random now with everyone only focused on hitting hrs and such and not manufacturing runs

What kind of idiocy is this? People should just ignore data that helps them win in favor of randomness because it’s more entertaining?

The logical conclusion your premise leads to is absurd beyond belief.

And yet the ratings paint a different story

That's the only evidence that matters, what the general audience in the entire united states feels

If my premise is so absurd, then why is baseball performing so badly?

Star Wars is out performing baseball and that's not good.

That's why you are disappointed. You're not really a fan of the game. Fans want to see the competition and the results. That's what's interesting.

Aren't you a Braves fan? Don't you remember the "chicks dig the long ball" commercial?

That's actually MY point

There are very few fans of the game left

The ratings prove that.

The sport needs to change to attract more viewers

Completely agree. The object of professional sports is to draw fans and ratings. Winning games is a part of that, but is secondary to the primary goal.

Revenue is irrelevant compared to viewership

The NFL CRUSHES mlb
