That's because that the only team we could see on TV other than the Cubs and Braves and who the hell wants to pull for those two teams.
How do you get Yankee games in LA?

White Sox win Cook county and the city of Chicago. You could lose every Area 51-49 and this map makes it look like you have no fans

Louisiana yankees
Yankee fan checking in. I imagine some of it has to do with Ron Guidry...plus the yankees are awesome.

Good thing for the A's, Angels and Meta that the populations of their regions are large enough to support two teams. The love for the Giants in the East Bay is a relatively recent phenomenon. They weren't nearly as popular in much of the Bay Area as the A's when they were playing at Candlestick, and the A's were owned by the Haas family who were willing to pay to keep star players. The Oakland Coliseum is a dump compared to AT&T Park, but it was a palace compared to Candlestick from a fan experience perspective.
My opinion is based on my experiences as a season ticket holder for the A's and Giants from 1989-1994. Tickets for A's games were in much greater demand than tickets for Giants games. There were times you couldn't give away tickets for Giants night games.
