Washington Senators 1.0 started in Washington, moved to Minnesota and became the Twins in the early 1960s. Replaced a couple of years later with Washington Senators 2.0 who moved to Texas and became the Rangers in the early 1970s. Montreal Expos eventually move to Washington and become the Nationals.

Have you ever read why the owner moved the team to Minnesota?

Calvin Griffith's reasoning on why he moved the team-

'I'll tell you why we came to Minnesota,' he said. 'It was when I found out you only had 15,000 blacks here. Black people don't go to ball games, but they'll fill up a rassling ring and put up such a chant it'll scare you to death. It's unbelievable. We came here because you've got good, hardworking, white people here. "

The Phillies beat out the pirates by one year. The baseball team in Philadelphia made the name Phillies their permanent name in 1890. The pirates became Pittsburghs permanent name in 1891

Phillies changed to the Blue Jays for a short time in the 1940s.

They didn’t become the cubs until like 1903. The franchise also started in 1876, so the map is wrong there.

Cubs started in 1871. But MLB doesn't recognize the National Association as major league.

The Giants almost moved to Minnesota instead of San Fran but the Dodgers owner convinced them to come west with them.

That would've sucked. The other NL owners voted against it by just one vote.

Do you remember the Portland Breakers of the USFL? They came to Portland from Boston via New Orleans.
