Yes. The actual team has Rummel and Curtis players on it, but no one made honorable mention from the Catholic League? No one period made it from 8-5A? Yes the district honestly sucked but there were still a few players from the top teams who deserved it

Big time farce.

That is one of the worst all-state teams I have ever seen picked.

Outside of Rummel and JC, the Catholic League was bad this season. Division I was a three horse race all year long.

Curtis had 2 D-Ends that could’ve started for Tulane. Neither on the All-State team.

Rummel beat Ruston 41-0, yet had 1 all-state kid and 4 honorable mentions, while Rummel had 2 all together

They got the coach of the year and Offensive player of the year right

Rummel and Curtis were that much better, but the rest of the Catholic League was by no means bad

I’d call bullshite on that as well.

I do not believe Acadiana goes undefeated with Rummel’s schedule. Only one common opponent in Ruston which Acadiana beat 28-20, and Rummel beat 41-0.

Nick Monica should’ve been Coach of the Year. Pretty big no-brainer too.

Oh, and finished ranked 11th in the country.

#1 Punter in the nation, committed to LSU...not All State. Makes sense.

catholic league makes up what % of all 5a teams? also.. NOLA has significantly less sportwriters that cover preps than it did say 3-5 or even 10 years ago - which hurts NOLA players.. just like for years LC area only had one voting on it....

7 out of I think 65 with 6 among the strongest teams in the state

How it should be

District 1- Shreveport and Natchitoches writers
District 2- Monroe and Alexandria writers
District 3- Lafayette and Lake Charles writers
District 4- BR and Livingston writers
District 5- BR and Ascension writers
District 6- Hammond and Slidell writers
District 7- Houma and Laplace writers
District 8- NOLA writers
District 9- NOLA writers

Jacoby Mathews from Ponchatoula made the list for honorable mention twice. Once with name spelled right, once wrong. So I wonder if he had enough votes for first team if you combined the misspellings

McCullough won state with the first ever undefeated Acadiana Rams team ( even better than the ones who beat Rummel multiple times with equally talented teams) and Monette broke Alley Broussard’s rushing record missing multiple games and still rushed for over 2,000 yards. Let Monica have the same success at a public school where he doesn’t have his pick of the litter and then come talk to me.

And Rummel struggled to beat St Aug twice whenever Acadiana ran all over them in their scrimmage.

LINK

Pretty sad Rummel barely beat them. Ruston was actually losing 21-0 in the first quarter vs. Acadiana. Some untimely fumbles happen in a veer offense like Acadiana runs. Game wasn’t even that close.

Honorable mention typically means just nominated.

I forget about the select schools having the "pick of the litter." And the poor non-selects do not.

People know who the better team was anyway.

How did Monica from Rummel not get coach of the year?

His first year he goes 13-0 and wins a state championship while beating Curtis and Catholic along the way.

Because Rummel struggled vs. St. Aug twice, and Acadiana ran all over them in a scrimmage.

So that guy won instead.

Being the #1 kicker or punter in the nation doesn’t really have anything to do with their performance in high school. They go to competitive charting camps. My son will, likely, be a top prospect in the country leading up to his freshman year...but that won’t get him the job playing varsity. He could literally not kick once his freshman year, that won’t happen, go back to the camps and solidify his top position.

It’s just REALLY different.

Monnette* from Acadiana didnt impress me. He's fast but not the best player in 5A.
