calling lebron one of the 50 best EVER at 24 years old?

come on now

he's already put together some of the best statistical seasons in history. And he's been playing 6 years.

Like I said earlier, LeBron isn't in the top 100 for any major statistical category. He has no rings. He has no MVPs. He isn't worthy yet.

Why should LeBron be on the list at this point? If his career ended tomorrow, what does he have to prove he is worthy?

those are longevity records. no big deal.
he's already put together 4 of the top 20 most statistically efficient seasons in history.

this season, his PER is only behind Jordan in the past 35 years. If Shaq can be named top 50 after 4 years in the league, Lebron can be after 6.

I think LeBron is one of the 50 greatest players now already, but that's based on his ability and future accomplishments that I'm assuming he achieves. He's only been in the league for what, 6 years? He just doesn't have the track record at this point to warrant such a lofty award. In another 3-4 years, he's a show in. That's long enough for his stats to be up in that realm, and by then, he'll have at least 2 MVPs I'd assume and maybe a championship.

he's been in the top 5 players for 4 consecutive years now. He could've won the mvp any of the last 4 years, and his numbers merited that.

Wade has been right there with Lebron, Won an NBA title, and Was Finals MVP. He leads the league in scoring currently.......I think he has to be in right now. Especially considering his competition for the remaining 12 spots. I can't even finish my list of 12 that should go in.

I think that if you allow the Shaq clause, he gets in as a no brainer. However, if one was against Shaq getting in (I was at the time, Nique and Bernard King should have been in ahead of him at that juncture) then, Lebron gets bumped.

Either way, if they do another one of these in 5 years or more, no doubt he is in, unless something catastrophic happens.

I'm not arguing that. I'm saying that if you compare him to the other guys up for consideration, he doesn't have the stats yet to belong, regardless of the fact that he's a better player.

I think "Greatest Player" is talking about who is a better player. Not the guy with the best stats. Longevity comes into play when a guy is on the fence for this. Guys like Wade and LBJ are clearly better then their competition IMO.

That's when this will be easier to do. We have so many incredible players that are in their mid 20's now.

How are stats, awards, and titles irrelevant to determining if he's one of the greatest players ever? You can't put guys in that realm without a certain amount of accomplishments. Just because you think he's top 50 skill wise doesn't mean he belongs. You have to prove it over a period of time longer than 3-4 years. The only way I would let him in at, what, 23?, is if he had a few titles and MVPs at this point.

In 5 years add CP3, Howard, Melo to Wade and LBJ. Probably a couple of other young bucks as well.

I don't know. He's a really good scorer, that's about it.

did shaq?

james has been flat out dominant in his first 6 years in the league. he's been the fastest to a number of statistical milestones.

ROY- 6 time All Star. All NBA 1st Teamer 4 times. Scoring Titles. One of only 3 people to Average 25 7 and 7. And he's done it multiple times.

He's already done and doing some of the things the originally top 50 never did. You're just looking at the wrong stats.

And if shaq can be put in the top 50 after 4 seasons, than lebron can be top 62 after 6 seasons.

His age is also irrelevant. His career is that of a 26 year old.
