He was the pitching coach there. Remember watching him play at Zachary then coach after. More my era.

Wes seems like he’d be a good hire for central. There really is just an abundance of good coaches in this area.

He definitely has and they absolutely have to. You’ve seen a resurgence in baseball at STA since he’s arrived. His teams play very good and he brings out the best in the kids it seems. Seems to be a big players coach as well, which goes a long ways I think.

Would really hate to lose him for the program. That could hurt us for a little bit with this transition in having a new high school and everything. Of course that’d all depend on who we’d hire if we had to go that route.

Coaching at private schools is becoming increasingly more difficult as they increasingly treat parents like customers.

now that ryan's son is gone, that probably played a role in Wes moving on

Can the private schools even go pluck a public school guy given retirement and such?

They can if the offer they make is decent. Most going from public to private want the private school to buy their years of service from public school retirement.

Interesting. I know nothing about the public/private school retirement system. Just going off what I’ve heard from public school guys that after so many years, it’s tough to make the switch.

Neil got into some trouble attending a coaching clinic in Athens, GA on the school’s dollar. With the standard they hold the students to, I would expect some form of discipline to come.
