Had to see what all the hype was about.

Apparently it was all for nothing.

See you in 4 years.

No he isn't. People don't care about soccer. People do care about US Soccer. 90% of that audience will not likely watch another soccer game until 2030 (except maybe some that watch the Gold Cup).

This.

Worse, those people may not tune in again because the next WC won't be held in the US. The casual fan showed interest...and the US team responded by not only getting beat, but looking weak, intimidated, and totally outclassed from literally the very first moments of the game. If this was the first soccer game you've ever watched with any real interest last night did nothing to make you want to watch again. In fact, quite the opposite.

Thats a lot of folks watching our shitty goalie shite all over himself. First 2 goals he could have came out and contested. Third one was pee wee level bad.

Also watched the US star show up for one half in first game and then no show for his other matches.

US had a really good coach in Poch. Problem is the US soccer federation waited until 2 years ago to finally hire someone worth a shite. You can’t expect more based on such little time, where most coaches have a full 4 years to build team. That leads to way less time to find and field the best players. He did good given his limited time. My guess is he leaves. And they’ll likely go back to nepo hires like before.

Its one thing to get beat but 4-1 looking like Keystone Cops will hurt them in public opinion.

The best thing to come out of this World Cup is over 1m visiting fans learning how much their press lied to them about America. They discovered how great our country is and we now have over 1m ambassadors who will return home and educate their friends.

Thats a win in my book. It even made us realize how good we have it and that too can help. I enjoyed foreign fans like Freddy showing how much we have in comparison to others.

We are still so far behind it's not even funny.

Only 10 million fewer people watched a regular season college football game in November of 2011.

90% of the audience won’t watch soccer for the next 4 years? That’s verifiably untrue. Soccer gets better ratings than hockey in this country and is closing in on baseball.

Demographics are shifting. Only 57% of the country is white in 2026. Baseball has fallen out of favor with the newer generations of American citizens.

and 28 million will never watch another soccer game for the next 4 years. No one cares about soccer no matter how much you push it

This is like one of those Nascar threads. A bunch of kids arguing about TV ratings and no one cares about this or that, is Nascar a sport, etc

Who gives a shite, it's entertainment, you either watch it or you don't. Most of y'all probably watch House Wives of Pink Hair Seattle

Not true

Baseball ratings and attendance are up and the growing latino population loves baseball
