NFL Europe folded in 2007. UFL (2009-2012) was hastily formed but actually drew a fair amount of interest. After 2012, CFL and arena ball was all that was left for guys who didn’t make an NFL roster.

Now all of a sudden we are going to have:
- Arena Football
- The Spring League
- XFL
- AAF
- CFL

I’m actually kind of excited to see it. Plus it’s a nice alternative to the NFL monopoly.

The brief run of the UFL was considered to be some of the highest level of play outside of the NFL at the time. It was only 4 teams, so they didn't scrape the bottom of the barrel for players. And all the coaches were former NFL lifers.

If any of these leagues can get to that level of coaching and player talent, but combine it with financial backing, it could catch on. Long shot though.

they'll cannibalize themselves due to lack of talent. a single, 8 team league, ran in the spring/summer would suffice.
what we will end up with is 4 shitty, watered down leagues not worth watching.

Arena football has to be nervous.

The AAF will try to establish itself as the NFL's actual minor league. They now have a TV agreement with the NFL Network (NFL owned). The AAF also ends its season right before the draft when NFL teams are figuring out who they want to add.

I cannot believe no one has placed a team in Omaha. They were crazy about the UFL team in 2016.

AFL has the advantage of requiring arenas and not stadiums... And of being a truly different game.

Which is why the AAF is the most likely to survive.

CFL will survive simply because they have their markets cornered and are the established league.
