Amazing how tone deaf the leaders are.

Fans just want racing back

- No more stage breaks. This would enhance and being back strategies. Fans guessing what teams will do and if it works (like pit early or not). Football has strategies all game long and it invests fans trying to figure out whats next (both sides of ball). Stages eliminated a lot of strategies. Without vestment fans tune out

- Figure out plate tracks (minus Atlanta). Make gas tanks smaller forcing more stops. Increases strategy buy-in from fans

- Make big changes to cookie cutter track cars. More engine. Less downforce. Smaller tires (width wise). Will force corner slow down and straight speed up. Creates more passing opportunities

- Get rid of chase. Go back to season points. Gets fans more engaged early to mid season vesting in wanting leader to keep/increase lead or behind in points fans wanting driver to improve and cut gap. Yes you might lose fans in fall but you already do. But might gain some back in spring snd summer. Plus the racing becomes priority over chase talk. All they talk about now is chase chase chase. Without it there are tons of stories not being told now.

There are others but these are pretty simple yet big changes to help fix. Look at NOAP, their car races great and ratings followed.

Kaulig returning Allmendinger and Ty Dillon to cup rides next year.

Dinger is good. Ty Dillon is arse. So underwhelming.

Also Mini Tyrell is his last day today.

Dillon has no top 10 finishes lol. Name seat only

Mini won that contest to get ride. I think he did ok nothing big but no one did good in their trucks. My guess is they want to do a contest part 2 and made lots of money on exposure that got them. I watched and enjoyed, some were immature but it was cool seeing them away from driving too. So Mini is just needing to go to redo that series exposure. Brought them new sponsors and fans.

Mini got a tough deal with that whole thing.

Much easier to go from 10 to 36 than 0 to 36. Mark martin said as much. I want full season as much as the next guy. But I understand why they did it.

I’m 100% with you on stage breaks.

I’m not sure if smaller gas tanks are the answer at Daytona and talladega.

My theory is Brad runs his truck team in partnership with Ram and comes back to cup in some capacity in 2028. Likely Kaulig through some equity stake or “Brad Keselowski Racing”

Tony was must see TV. Would he blow up - thus the “Stewpot” moniker. “I’d wreck my mother. I’d wreck your mother”. Good stuff

In addition to what you said:
Make the bumper of the car not so indestructible and Hocevar and Berry wouldn’t have ruined Cindric and Blaney’s day. They have to know that if you do something like that your rear end might get pushed it creating a tire rub. Hocevar’s bumper hardly flinched when Zane ran into him a couple weeks ago on the cool down lap.

This is my all time favorite Smoke interview especially his figure 8 talk.

Thing is, they modified the front bumper mid-season and pundits said then it was a bad move. During restarts someone slows or spins tires you bump them and it destroys car. But somehow it wasn’t a problem for most part (in restarts) but became a weapon for drivers to brake check others.

Nascar has no clue what they are doing most days. Why would they not get input from drivers? And not Denny or Dale Jr. Nascar listens to them too much because of their large podcasts but not the regular drivers. There are too few voices in the sport which Nascar drove off those who would speak out. Now its just a sounding board or echo chamber.

I had forgot about that one! Tony gave the best interviews you didn't dare change channel until he got asked some dumb question lol. He spoke from the heart and had a temper. Exactly what Nascar was built around

My reasoning is it would create less large pack. The extra stops would create some chaos and drama. Then a smaller pack gets behind a bit and has to chase leading pack.

And since plate tracks can be boring for driver you add in more pit stops which increases their value and increases drama both good and bad. It adds another element to stale races.

My only problem with this is NASCAR will go back to throwing phantom debris cautions several times a race. People forget this is one of the reasons they went to stages. If they ditch the stages, we will go back to having more fake cautions to bunch them back up for restarts. That's why I think stages are here to stay for now.

And with that idiot O'Donnell in charge, I don't trust NASCAR to come up with a real solution to that problem anytime soon. They are more concerned about selling TV ad spots than the product on the track.

Again I don’t disagree. Just heard others mention it wouldn’t change anything.

Just saw SVG getting a new crew chief. Blake Harris…. Not sure I like that move. But it sounds like Doran is leaving trackhouse.

We must be watching two different sports. OD has been solid thus far. I’d give a B+. He’s a far better option to lead the sport over jim France or Steve Phelps.

Does the sport have a ways to go? Yeah. It’ll take time. But the man has done a good job since taking over.

18 laps into it and Riggs blew his right rear tire due to damage. Honeycutt has this one easily now.
