Luckily Indycar lets them keep their spot if going to backup or fixing wrecked car. And will gove them extra time on carburation day

I always get in to the history of the 500 during the month of May.
I remember the 1973 500 very vaguely as I was 5. I don't remember the race much per se, only snippets in my mind of my dad, grandfather, and uncles conversations of the Swede Savage crash. I think it's my earliest memory.
I also remember seeing the Salt Walther crash. I still have a fear of fire from that.
