Please. We've seen enough of Max winning. I'm okay if he retires from F1 without winning another race ever again.

Bro, I hear you. I’m a little traumatized from max’s dominance as well but SOMEBODY needs to make this shite show of a season interesting. So far it’s Ferarri which is perfectly fine with me but we need as many teams/drivers mixing it up in the front as possible.

I’m one of those idiots that doesn’t have enough confidence in their self to make obvious decisions. I didn’t get the gambling gene, just others, but why did I not put money on Kimi winning it all in Kalshi? He was incredibly undervalued at 8%. Compare that to Russel at the time in the upper 20s (if the car was really that good, even being a reliable second in the WDC would be far beyond 8%).

I would have likely sold it after a few races anyway because gambling makes me anxious. But now it’s at 22%. I remember thinking this through after testing when he was at 6% and they were obviously sandbagging.

Proves that markets aren’t always efficient. Will probably learn from this mistake and lose everything after the next regs.

Max is having extra trouble with tire wear. His left front soft looked shredded very quickly and he paid for it by having to pit early just before a safety car.

Plus in both Australia and China he made up significant ground in the few laps after a tire change but then his progress stalled. He's complained about balance and it seems like an obvious way RB can improve.

The other thing is that every race so far has had at least one car have an extremely sluggish start. Seems like an accident waiting to happen.

I think he’s just lost the want to care. Easily the most talented driver still on the grid.

Now he’s in a mental battle of whether that 75 million salary, tax free in Monaco, is still worth not rage quitting for another series where top drivers might make a couple million. Especially with a family now. And it’s probably not going to get better, Max has probably lost the will to even give advice to his mechanics like all the goat drivers have done historically.

I think Indy should think rationally about expanding their spec series and consider Verstappen on a Messi type deal. I don’t know about soccer but I’d imagine that the premier league hasn’t self destructed on a scale of this level.

But not from Hamilton/Merc dominating for 8 straight years

Max is the best driver on the grid and I'd rather see him win than anyone else for that reason alone. I was glad that Mclaren took the Constructors the last two years from RB though.

Yes. I absolutely was. I hated that shite. I was a fan of Max coming up and excelling the way he did in 21?

But as soon as he started dominating I was over it. He dominated the sport worse that what Hamilton did before that IIRC.

Toto's comments after Max's

quote:

“I mean, Max is really in a horror show,” Wolff told media including Motorsport.com. “When you look at the onboard that he had in qualifying yesterday, that is just horrendous to drive. And you can see that, but it’s not the same with many other teams.”

This is the biggest disappointment right here

quote:

After the Australian Grand Prix, Wolff already said that the opinions of drivers ultimately – certainly for F1 boss Stefano Domenicali – are secondary to what fans think. And in that respect, the Mercedes team boss says the early signals are positive.

Its all about the $$$ and not about the sport of it. Yes, you can't put a completely shite product out, but you also can't go by what the fans wants... That is how wrestling is now considered a sport by ESPN

Yes. That is pretty obvious.

If you want sport for the love/thrill that is what IMSA and track days are about

Even happier this is off ESPN and YouTube TV after seeing so much of that BS. UFC too. No thanks.

Saving $$ on having to pay for that at least until football season is back and then we’ll see if I re-up anything.

My not well vetted thoughts after watching the race.

Caddy is bad. Not even first year bad but legitimately bad. While not the same due to technical philosophies Haas (first year) scored points in their first race and hung with the mid field when they weren't shooting themselves in the foot.

I don't think Leclerc knows who his race is with whereas Hamilton knows it isn't with the Merc's yet. Leclerc needs a bit more aggression when racing people close. Also seems, at least on this track, the key is using that overtake early on the lap to get ahead then trying to extend to a second before the lap is over. That means running a lap a whole second faster which is a tall order but proved doable.

Red Bull have a long way to go and will make Max take a sabbatical year if there isn't a landing spot at Merc or Ferrari next year. He won't compete in F1 if he can't have the top car again. The $300MM will still be there after a year off.

The winner of the TD F1 Chinese Grand Prix is MikeD, (unfortunately) the winner of the first two races of the year.

I would disagree about Cadillac

They are slow, but they are showing progress and they have shown themselves to be a professional team. They have a long way to go before they are competitive. This year they have been better than Williams and AM overall.

F1 is very hard. Be patient

Im not counting them out or bagging on them. Just feels like they are further behind than I expected.

Final China GP thoughts.

Don’t think I saw any Orange iPhones in the crowds of people after lots of articles stating that the bright colored iPhone was leading sales in China.

Laughed at their ancient looking old tractors they used to remove cars. Things had rudimentary scaffolding looking apparatus to help pick up the cars with the forks of the tractor.

You’d think China would have some electric drone ship thing that picked them up and flew them out of there.

Speaking of drones, weren’t there a lot of random little drones flying around close to the track during the race or was that just me?
Don’t think I ever saw any footage from them but think I saw them more than ever before this year.

This caught my eye a few times as well. Not sure I saw drone shots but maybe they just didn't come off that way.

Were there even helicopter shots?
