Thank you for the great answer

Luke browning probably needed some new pants after this near miss in Super Formula.

I remember seeing it posted in this thread, but is Miami going to be on any broadcast channels? I thought someone said there were agreements for free access in the US to it, since its usually on ABC
Considering canceling my Apple TV 2 months early since no races in April and only Miami and Monaco in May. If Miami is on tv, then not missing shitty racing other than 1 race out of what I was expecting.

I think they have said Apple was gonna air a couple races this year for free. I assume that means you would still use the Apple+ app but wouldn’t need an account. I saw Montreal was one they were expected to air for free, no word on Miami.

Well we will see. I went ahead and cancelled. Not a big loss if I miss Miami.

Im cheap so I refused to pay for Apple TV for F1 and dont feel like Ive missed anything. I follow this thread and go on F1.com daily + other random racing websites. I follow qualifying on F1.com (if Im awake). For the race, I either watch a youtuber livestream it (Stuffey is great and better than tv commentary) or go straight to Youtube first thing the next morning and watch the F1 race highlights. I used to just record the races and watch them in 20-30 minutes anyway so this isnt that different.

Funny Facebook vidoe making fun of the batteries
Don't have FB, so can't watch
I'm very surprised at the amount of open hate around the new regs going around social media. Buxton and other semi high profile people bashing the battery bullshite and saying F1 needs to hurry up and get their shite together.

Have you watch the races?

So what are you surprised about again?
Can the think tank here help me quantify the impact of these new regs? Will destroying F1 outside of Italy be worth the new regs? And if so, will destroying F1 be worth how fun consumer cars will be to drive in the next 10 years through R&D?
They already got rid of manual transmissions, might as well finish us off.

I think the message has been sent loud and clear and received. I don’t think there is a quick answer tho, prolly stuck with some version of this for a couple seasons.

Someone made the point that the likely result is the bullet point about reducing battery output to make it last longer.
It will probably slow lap times by 2 seconds or so. Will still be the fastest formula racing today.
Might be some lesson here about sim vs real life testing. The downshifting and clipping was talked about for years leading up to this but in practice the visual and sound probably would have tested poorly had their been track time 5-6 months ago.

I think they will figure out some tweaks to make it better this season and then some bigger changes to get us thru the next few years. In the long run this debacle might be a good thing, might be just what we need to force them into doing away with the hybrid all together. Hopefully they go for V8s burning synthetic fuels starting in 30 or 31.

That talking heads aren’t falling in line publicly… like I said “open hate”
Behind the scenes I have no doubt everyone knows they fricked up, but it’s different to hear it out in the open from the ones that are supposed to be promoting and toeing the line.

Most of them don't get a paycheck from F1 or Liberty
Buxton is paid by Indy so now that is the greatest racing he has ever seen.

Unless something happens to supplant electic cars I think we always see a hybrid of battery component. The renewable fuel part is a bigger scam than electric cars when it comes to the environment. I wouldn't hang hope on renewable fuel changing the direction of those pushing due to environmental change.
The solution of the MGU-H or front-wheel regen would be nice but I don't expect that is going to happen in this formula.
On a similar note I came across a podcast that talked to the Honda issues. One of the presenters said that Newey requested Honda to shorten the engine or something to that extent. That request was said to be what was causing the issues. Reminds me of the McHonda days where Honda had to build around the car and all the issues that came from that.

The ones paid by F1 are toeing the line. The ones not paid by F1 are telling the truth

That would have been a great team pairing to watch. Danny Ric never seemed to find a car to accommodate his late braking style after leaving.
His 2016 drive flys under the radar because of how Merc dominated.

Indy car is a lot more fun to watch this year
I never thought I would say that
