I dunno, if they think they will make it to lap 100 before the rain they may not try to save fuel.

I thought the same, but Bubba said in his interview that it was the most important factor today and I’m listening to Kyle Busch’s radio and his crew chief told him to do max fuel saving basically all race.

Did they throttle the cars down more? I thought Daytona and Taladega both ran over 200mph.

It takes a minute to warm the cars up.

I think the Cup superspeedway engines are only 510 horsepower now.

Chase Briscoe is in the lead and only running 50-60% throttle.

Haven’t looked at forecast. Will we end up with a night race?

Or is this tomorrow morning?

It’s amazing how much the Daytona 500 gets impacted by rain. Just in the last 15-16 years:

2009 - Rain shortened.
2012 - Delayed until Monday night by rain.
2014 - Mid-race rain delay, finished on Sunday night.
2020 - Postponed to Monday afternoon after 20 laps were run on Sunday.
2021 - Mid-race rain delay, finished on Sunday night.
2024 - Postponed to Monday.
2025 - Rain delay after 10 laps.
