Fox reported that NASCAR is considering the driver change to have occurred under yellow, meaning he wouldn’t have to drop to the rear.

Fox just corrected this and Larson will have to go to the rear.

Race called. Bell is the winner. Would have liked to see them get it dried off and resume racing.

So Larson didn’t run the double. Needs to try again next year.

Ironic that the Indy 500 was the one with all the rain talk and it ends up being the 600 that gets called for rain. I know if it’s halfway it’s official, they couldn’t finish it out tomorrow?

I know they have no control over the weather, but NASCAR comes out of this looking like the loser of the best racing day of the year.

Did they really need to call the race? I can remember sitting until the early morning hours on a couple of occasions at Charlotte.

NASCAR is cursed. The only time I am in these threads are for the big event races, Daytona, Memorial Day, 4th of July, etc. Every freaking time, without fail, it rains. I swear, it rains every freaking time.

According to Pockrass, Larson signed a two year deal for the Indy 500. So it sounds like he may have the option to do it again next year if he wants to do so.

Totally blown by Nascar!! Made everyone wait and then pretty much had it dry and call it? What is this shite. College football plays late. Other sports play late. Had so many storylines that were to play out. And just called it. Bunch of old fogies running the race.

It’s a holiday weekend and people paid big money to be there knowing it usually runs late. And all fans and TV watchers leave with a bad taste. There was nothing on behind it to rush for TV. Charlotte will let them race late. No reason in the world to call it.

Yeah it was horse shite. If they were going to call it they should have at least 45 mins earlier. Also, they just took too damn long to get the dryers out and actually get going. Add that to the traffic, ridiculously long yellows (why do we need 8 yellow laps after every stage end?), and various other things and even my dad said he may not go next year.

Also was literally driving on dry roads to get back home.

he only has himself to blame and plenty of Indy Great has been caught speeding in pitlane (i.e. Dixon in 2022).

If he is truly the racer he is made out to be he needs to be at Indy every year

Some of the comments:

Matt Weaver
@MattWeaverRA
Christopher Bell won the Coca Cola 373 and a Half, a race that had what felt like overtime in what was the scheduled mid-point, and a winner who was booed out of Victory Lane from fans who felt misled over track drying.

Fans WERE misled. Fox continued to tell viewers the race was going to restart, other threads said the PA at the track said it would restart and some drivers said they were told to get ready to be called back

I'll say this. Official or not they raced until 1am last year, on Monday....why hype the 600 up so much and not simply move the conclusion to Monday. It's a holiday. Incredibly bad call.

Explain the jet driers sitting at the exit to pit road doing nothing

They waited 30 min after the last rain drop before air titans hit the track. Then left 3 jet dryers to sit at the end of pit road never once firing up. I told the fam it looked like a half arse effort and I was right. Might very well be done spending money on nascar

So come back Monday at noon? Give the fans that. The teams are literally down. The street to most of their shops. They aren't in California!

If SMI knows their surface, they should know that it was probably 85% dry. There’s 100 some thousand fans at the race track you can’t hide a dry race track from them.

The problem is that NASCAR told us they were gonna resume racing. They also knew that it was gonna take at least 1 hr to dry the track after the rain. They shouldn’t have told people they would resume racing! It’s absolutely ridiculous! I drove 7 hours to get to this race!

Says no curfew but called it. Started the race saying these 600 miles are for the men and women who died for this country, still called it. Kyle Larson showed up and had a president watching the race and still called it???

Went to bed wondering if they were going to call the race or concluded today.

Looks.like they made the wrong choice.

There's zero reason why the final 150 laps could not be run today.

The whole race was an example of everything wrong with NASCAR and its TV partners. It’s become such a horrible product in the interest of making a few more dollars and pandering to every motherfricker on the planet.

It all just sucks right now. I say I’m done and always come back, so I’m not done. But God Dammit, I roll my eyes harder when I watch NASCAR’s television productions than I do when my wife hints around to getting after it later and then says she’s got a headache at go time.

Just show us cars going fast as frick, and the money will sort itself out.

Pre race show that sucks. Every week.
Mike Joy talking to the audience like we all were born yesterday. Every week.
Clint Bowyer being a jabbering fool. Every week.
Commercial breaks. Stage breaks that take forever. No flow. Every Week.

Now this week, we’re going to make some huge spectacle about it being Memorial Day…. I mean, love the troops. Appreciate everything they’ve done. Some of the finest men in the history of the world were American Soldiers… We don’t have bring every car down pit road during one of the many stage breaks, kill the engines, and have a moment of silence. Moments of Silence are done after the invocation, then you play the national anthem, fire engines. Boom. Patriotism.

NASCAR/FOX uses the Moment of Silence as just a segue into selling another 5 minutes of pimping engine oil, energy drinks, and dick pills.

How people don’t see this, and call them out for it, is wild.

Can we please just line them up, say go as fast as possible and we’ll see where we’re at in November? Here’s 1000 HP. Go 205 into Turn 1. If you gas it up too hard coming off 4, you’ll lay rubber down and destroy your tires on the long run. If Hamlin clinches a championship in Martinsville instead of Phoenix, so be it. That’s an arse beating over the course of a year. They earned it. If Keselowski wins one race and wins the championship by having 25 Top 5’s, but Byron wins 6 and finishes third with 8 DNF’s, so be it. Consistency should be rewarded.

On the biggest day in motor sports, NASCAR was the clear loser. Rain was just the nail in the coffin for the day.

Monaco was Monaco. Had a dumb arse driving for the guy who’s NASCAR team is about to collapse frick some shite up in Turn 1 Lap 1… Iconic parade afterwards. Qualifying is where it’s at in Monaco.

Indy was ELECTRIC. It will be back to sucking dick in 3 weeks as they drive through the streets of Cleveland or something. On Peacock.

Charlotte was decent ON THE TRACK. As soon as it went into a weather delay, I was out. I don’t trust these arse hats to walk a dog right now.

So glad I didn’t stay up to watch that shite show. My 2 year old kicked me in the ribs about midnight, so I checked X to see what happened. Was validated. Went back to bed.

That was a lot of rambling, but whatever. Maybe Dale Jr will read it and agree and say it on his podcast.

indycar is on a classic street course in detroit next week… On NBC. Its basically the OG detroit Indy and F1 layout

Everything you described that is wrong with Nascar is cured with Indycar

Well stated. This is the last time Fox has the 600 too. Next year its on pay site and based on fan reaction from last night no one will pay extra for that clown show. Maybe Fox did it intentionally? I said earlier in thread but the pay site scheme will be my way to reduce watching Nascar.

They also have names on windshields plus Fox ran scrolls on bottom. The going to pit lane and sitting is overkill. By that time fans are half way juiced, or likely more. It’s all about Fox making more money.

This one will be talked about a long time. Whats ironic os no one remembers who won last week (fight got more press) nor this week (called short when track was mostly dry).

They race a clown car when all they need is more HP and tires that wear faster. They break toe links with minor contact. They can’t drive to pit lane with 2 rear flats. They can’t follow behind a car without losing it.

Xfinity and Trucks have better racing. And thats what I’ll watch more of next year during the pay site races.

Also, gag me with that fake pass in grass BS last night. It was astroturf not grass. It was a small small section. Nothing like the Dale/Bill one.

And the booth just sucks right now. I love what Harvick does but the other 2 are bad and don’t mesh They have really gone downhill since DW retired (or was pushed out).
