2024-25 SEC Basketball "Dominance" is an Outlier.

After Duke/Houston beats Auburn/ Florida we'll need to shift toward whether or not the SEC was as good as advertised.
Thanks to the last year of covid players, alot of teams are older, Auburn has grown men out there.. I mean Kelly is 24, Baker-Mazara is 25
Look at the number of starting seniors that are graduating on the top teams in the SEC, this doesn't include underclassmen going to the draft
Arkansas will reload because Calipari, so will Kentucky. Bama has a few 5 star recruits mixed in and someone else there will be good.
Let's see what happens to the rest of the teams before crowning them the best college basketball conference. Teams will need to develop new seniors and top prospects have way more distribution amongst conferences than the SEC/Big 10 with football

Bama (Youngblood, Sears, Nelson, Wrightsell, Omoruyi)
Auburn (Broome, Baker-Mazara, Jones, Kelly)
Florida (Richard, Clayton Jr, Martin)
A&M (Wade Taylor IV, Garcia, Coleman, Hefner, Obaseki)
Kentucky (Carr, Williams, Brea, Butler)
Tennessee (Milicic, Lanier, Zeigler, Mashack)
Arkansas (Davis, Aidoo)
Ole Miss (Pedulla, Davis, Murray, Murrell)

Duke has been crushing their opponents with 3 freshmen, a junior, and a senior transfer from Tulane. It doesn't take long to build a championship caliber team.

It doesn't, but the blue bloods will continue to get their choice of players and schools that don't have good football or baseball programs will commit more to their basketball programs.
In a way it's unfortunate for the SEC schools to be so good at the big 3. Look at the rumors about Nate Oats leaving Alabama. He doesn't feel as if he is getting a fair shake when Bama football is so important

Wow other conferences are really struggling with accepting the SEC is going to be a force the next few years minimum. There are way too many good coaches in the conference right now to lose momentum.

Blue bloods aren’t getting their choice of players though. It’s coming down to who offers the most money for transfers and high school players now. It’s easier now than ever to flip rosters in college sports with the transfer portal.

SEC pretty much proved themselves this year in the dance
Kind of a weak take too especially considering the SEC is putting up similar results across all sports

Two things:
Coaching in the SEC has never been at this high a level across the conference. Those coaches aren’t graduating.
You act like we’re playing with some special deck or something. Why aren’t the other leagues better now? They h
can have Covid players too.

You win the most moronic post of the month...and right at the buzzer.
So, three schools that are sitting at home during the Final Four (Arky, bama and UK) will be good to go next year, but the two schools who made it to the Final Four (Auburn - SEC Regular Season Champs and Florida - SEC Tournament Champs) will still have to prove themselves before anyone can claim SEC dominance?
Mensa candidate here folks....

I would just like to say how right i was with my post earlier in the tournament. Sec basketball is OVERATED! 14 teams in the tournament was too many. All these teams loosing just getting crushed by so called "garbage conference teams". The duke boys or houston will work auburn or florida, who are only there because they were handed such garbage schedules and now sec is guranteed a team in. Both have looked like trash and I will be proven right AGAIN! Yoh can go ahead and apoligize and say I was right!

With NIL and Portal the top half of the SEC will look like this again next year. Let mid majors develop them then pay them for their last year or 2. This is the new normal.

It's already been proven they were as good as advertised.

you do see the vacuum you are looking at your conference in, right? Considering the only ones with sustained success are Bruce Pearl and John Calipari. but Beard, Barnes, Oats, and Golden are quality
Coaching is fantastic everywhere, just look at the Big 12, Bill Self, Scott Drew, and Kelvin Sampson are all seen as top 10-12 coaches in the game.
Special deck? No I just think the SEC chest beating after dominating the SEC/ACC head to head at the beginning of a season is a little premature considering the SEC haven't won a title in over a decade.
And are probably about to get waxed by Duke. An ACC team

ACC had a down year but Duke is having a dominant season
NC State hired Wade and will become a better team
Miami hired Lucas
UNC probably needs to get rid of Davis
Big Ten still no title since 2000 which is hard to believe

The SEC got a team to the Final. Congratulations....14 bids seems to be the manufactured way....that kinda Outlier?
No, no, no....stuffing the ballot box on Selection day will be the new norm for the SEC and Big10 at the expense of others....this is the two power conferences, flexing the odds in their favor.
The SEC and Big10 made up almost 35% of this years NCAA Tournament field.

TBF, I think they've had the most teams make the title game in the past 25 years. 7 different teams is impressive but they ran into buzz saws.
2002: IU loses Maryland
2005: Illinois loses to UNC
2007: Ohio St loses to UF
2009: Sparty loses to UNC
2013: Michigan loses to Louisville
2015: Wisconsin loses to Duke
2018: Michigan loses to Villanova
2024: Purdue loses to UConn
