Right, some Tennis Channel stat guy needs to do a study of what like 20 points better or worse in a few breakers would have done to his career either way.

Domi Thiem's forehand pace and spin has gone from 80 mph and 3005 RPM at IW 2019 to 76 mph and 2786 RPM in 2023. Doesn't seem all that drastic to me, but it's probably enough of a difference to explain the lack of success.

I think we used to talk about he seemingly put every ounce of energy into his shots, or at least the forehand. It probably helped with his fitness but it’s just not sustainable.

Guess it’s possible he’s adding some nuance to his game but yeah it’s much more likely that he’s just declining.

For you and midnightvibe, if your life depended someone to bust you out of jail with a RG tournament win, who would that be?

I think you already know who I like. Had him 20/1 last year and he closed around 3/1. Doubt he’ll be better than +125 ever again after this year.

Forgot to preface that I just prefer him to win out of the 3 favorites. Not necessarily that I think there’s any value in that number. Clay can be brutal.

Speaking of that animal, he just gave Bagnis a couple consolation games for making the trip to Miami.

Yeah, Carlos won the first 11 points and it was getting uncomfortable with how bad Bagnis looked.

Brett Haber just said, "Grigor Dimotrov will be 32 years old in six weeks. Remember when he was nextgen five minutes ago?" What did we get out of those guys? One major title in Cilic, a slam final from Raonic and Nishikori, and a Cincy title for Grigor?

Grigor with a nice turnaround to win the second against Struff when it looked like he was dead.

Do you think Zverev will ever return to form?

Tough call. Most of us think he is soft and needs some variety, but he was arguably the second best player at Roland Garros last year. Ankle blew out and everything changed. I think he can be top five for a few years.

Between this result (not even a break chance vs. Daniel) and basically outplaying Medvedev last week, I don’t know what to think. I guess you are bound to have ups and downs when returning from an absence like that. Well he can focus on his favorite surface now.

Wasn't he leading Rafa at R-G before he broke his ankle?

Nah he had lost the 1st set 7-6 then it happened on the point right before the 2nd set tiebreaker started. So he was close to evening the match but also close to being down 2-0, which is certain death vs. Rafa. It was a hell of a battle though.

Rafa also went 5 sets with Felix too at RG, so maybe he wasn’t in true Rafa form.

Annacone just mentioned that Alex has diabetes and takes injections. That has to be a tough thing to balance.

Seems like a different Russian girl pops up in the top 20 or 30 every few months.

Shelton vs. Mannarino is an interesting matchup.

Incredible match. It went about 3:30. I think Kokk had a second serve ace to get it to 6-4 in the breaker, then a great second serve on the next point, but Hubi blasted it and then won the next three points to finish it.

The next time this animal loses a set it will be a major news story.

He went bagel, then second set got a little tight today.

Kid is like a pied piper out there right now. Everyone loves him. Cool to see him bro-ing it up with Jimmy Butler.
