Novak out for Toronto. Guess he'll just play Cincy as a warmup.

RG and Wimbledon probably took a lot out of him mentally and physically. It's not the worst idea to skip one of the Masters. I feel like a lot of guys the last few years have been burned out or injured by the time of the Open.

One week until D.C. We are almost at real hardcourt season. Moving back Wimbledon a week really makes it seems like there is not much break now.

I find it interesting that Cincy is super fast and outdoors and the Open is on the slower end and sort of indoors on the bigger courts. I’m assuming NY is hotter and more humid too. Plus they use different balls. So the tourneys are basically nothing alike. Wonder if there’s any negative correlation between doing well in Cincy and having success at the Open.

So did anyone watch the UTS matches this week?

https://youtu.be/OGUVxt_s2Gw

Never heard of it and then started seeing highlights show up in my feeds.

I didn't, but saw some pretty nice highlight shots from Monfils and Shelton.

I'm so curious about the difference in string tensions Cressy uses on his two rackets. Bunk you got any inside info from your deep web sources?

I tried to do a quick dive in some forums. A UK stringer said they strung him at 54, but didn't get into anything about different tensions.

I saw some speculation on other forums it's probably higher tension on return for more control and lower on serve for more pop, but then they had differing info on which racquet has more weight/lead.

ETA, one thing I don't completely understand is swingweight. I get the general concept of head-heavy versus head-light. But, I've read some anecdotal stuff that the real racquet ninjas like Roman Prokes can help a person a ton and really change the feel of a racquet by playing with swingweight.

Shelton has had a very rough year since his Australian Open run. Has yet to make it past the second round in an ATP tourney since then. Hopefully he can find his game again now that he's back on hard courts.

This is from a tweet directly from the Atlanta Open, but they also mentioned that Shelton came in and wrote 72 himself so who knows if it's all accurate.

That is awesome and the Cressy info squares with the info I came across. Isner's low tension jumped out at me, but he sort of does just swat at groundies. I seem to remember growing up that 70 lbs tension and even up to 80 wasn't uncommon -- I guess things have changed due to poly.

Anybody wanna roll into the Nation's Capital for some Citi Open action?

I'll teach you my tried-and-true strategy of sneaking into unoccupied corporate boxes and eating the funk out of their food / drinking the funk out of their beer while enjoying an amazing view of the action.

Maybe this year I can even take the next step up and bring a hot bitch or two along with me and give them a nice rogering.

Bunk, not sure I want a season long thread for this...is it possible to have a thread for every non-grand slam event?

As it is now, the first page of this thread is over 7 months old...

Fair enough, Chicken. I have no problem with the anchor. We'll just fire them up during the slams and other big tournaments.

Guess we could just fire up August and see what happens lol. That’ll cover everything before the Open.

Yeah, an August hardcourt thread should get us to the U.S. Open. Got my tickets today for semifinals day session and my bro got the night. Now I need one of Pride's friends to make the doubles final so I can meet the legend.

Stan and Giron just won all 36 service games without facing a break point on a slow indoor court in Kazakhstan. Basically like a double perfect game in baseball.
