Somebody explain to me how this race works.

That was great fun.

NASCAR is putting on a clinic on what not to do to appease fans of your (mostly) regionalized sport.

I will die laughing if a majority of that crowd leaves now.

The reality is NASCAR doesn’t want that “core audience” and hasn’t in two decades, because they can’t be a “major league sport equivalent to the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL” … I actually had those words spoken to me in the press box at Talladega back in the 1990s by one of their marketing people as the ultimate goal … as a regional sport catering to lower and lower middle class and working class Southerners.

I think that goal was then and remains now absolute madness, but that is their mindset and why they are going to LA, Chicago, etc., trying to “broaden the sport’s appeal.”

This friggin’ thing is gonna last all night.
