Lewis is not the number two driver at Mercedes.

Crashing into someone going into turn one? You betcha Russell all day
Over the course of a race? No way still taking Lewis, Russell got pretty lucky with his safety car gambles last year.

Man, love him or hate him Lewis an all-time great. Even now. Sure, Russell is very talented, but come on.

George will probably get all the tools together soon. Not sure he ever lives up to the hype put on him when he was slumming it at Williams.
Maybe Bottas kept his seat for so long because Toto saw more than everyone

Other than Max being a guaranteed runaway, and my driver fading, this was a pretty enjoyable race. Maybe because the cancelled race and Monaco putting me to sleep, anything would be enjoyable.
Ferrari is driving me crazy with their pace. Pretty bad that LeClerc couldn't make his way up into the points and only passed up guess he should have had ease passing. Alpine actually looked better than Ferrari.
I'd interested to see if this is actually what reality is for Aston Martin. If they are actually a top 2-3 or more of a 4-5 team.
Another random thing. The more I see the McLaren the more I like the look of it.

The driver hype train is always moving, but its like any other sports. It's sooo rare to find a Schumacher, Hamilton, or Verstappen. The ability to put in performance lap after lap, offer meaningful information to the team for development, make changes in race, manage tires, etc.

It's also widely known that Hamilton took on most of the development work for Mercedes.

So this was some good news for Mercedes, but it turns out that Hamilton had DRS down the main straight on this lap and pulled an extra .4.

My only take is not to say that Russell having more points means he's better right now, I just mean it to say it's not some crazy thought that should be immediately dismissed IMO.

yea, i think Mercedes and everyone involved in doing a good job so far managing the situation, it actually helps they don't have a competitive car as if they aren't fighting for wins and barely podiums then things can't get that contentious

That quali incident would have been explosive had they had they been truly competitive this year.

If checo did that to max, jos might actually choke him out in the garage. I still think its huge. You can blame merc for not giving George enough info I guess but his fricking car has mirrors for a reason
Posted on 6/5/23 at 3:54 pm to UncleFestersLegs
The post-quali show really showed how bad Merc screwed it up. Put their drivers out together then did a shite job of warning the drivers what the other was doing.

hope that makes the next season of DTS

quote:I think Lewis was still fuming internally in 2022 that Mercedes did not take the results of Abu Dhabi to court. Lewis had the championship in his grasp and a huge lead over Max. The way it ended was technically wrong, and Max getting to change tires was a huge advantage. Lewis got royally fricked. Made for exciting finish, though.
Russell has outscored Lewis since the start of 2022, so I don't think it's a crazy question.

Lots of people on here letting their bias ignore this fact.
