Dang, Danny Ricc should have just taken the Haas seat if he’s willing to go to the junior team. Personally I’d like to see Liam Lawson get a shot.

Danny Ricciardo in an American Haas car is an F1 marketer's dream. It's a wet dream if he can manage to win a race or two. It's a wet pipe dream if he could win at COTA or Vegas.

The rumors of Max’s camp wanting Checo off RB are spicy

But not surprising

Where are you seeing that?

Max gets a teammate that challenges him and they want him gone, sounds about right. I like Max but his dad has a very punchable face. If Max doesn't win, his dad looks like he wants to kill everyone around him.

I don't mind Max is what I should say. I can appreciate how he is just a machine in that car.

With De Vries rumors and Checo rumors flying, it's looking more likely that Danny gets a seat sooner rather than later. If Danny took over for De Vries and performed well, I could see them making a Checo and Danny swap to preserve Max's championship

If Checo challenges Max, it’s going to be the car’s fault. He’s not that good a driver.

ETA: also, Danny better bring it, because he’s got a lot to lose if he can’t podium in that Red Bull car.

Is there some sort of precedence for this, where a dude is leading or 2nd place and in strong contention half way through a season and he gets pulled from his seat?

Granted, we know Red Bull would be lying, but what possible reason could they give for this change to try to spin it?

checo isn't going anywhere. he capitalizes when max has an issue (safety car, reliability etc) but is not a serious threat.

plus he brings in some nice sponsorship money.

Daniel Ricciardo will not be replacing Nyck De Vries at AlphaTauri

Liam Lawson is understood to be the first choice for Red Bull if they have to make a change

Red Bull's top brass have been left frustrated by Nyck's underwhelming form

nate saunders was reporting this earlier. AT is supposed to be the developmental team anyway.

That would be a disaster move from a PR perspective for RB. There's no way Checco would do that, they'd have to fire him and he'd come out and say the obvious, that they were replacing him because he was legitimately challenging Max.

Checco's car mysteriously having some issues in a few races is something I can see.

Checo is a great driver and very popular in North America. He is great on street circuits. RB would be idiotic to let him go.

Yea, I'm new to F1 so wasn't sure if something similar has happened, but just can't figure out how RB would try to spin dropping a guy leading or contending in 2nd for a title.

Granted, the midfield fighting is keeping F1 interesting for me, but at the top, Checo competing with Max is all we have left.

1 or 2 Max DNFs, and it could get interesting. Max I'm sure will win comfortably but keeping it close as long as possible will make things pretty spicy with the RB team.

he's doing an excellent job in his #2 driver role. but he'd need 2016 rosberg luck on steroids to challenge max.

How'd he win?

Did Lewis have way more DNFs?

lewis had reliability/engine issues in multiple races. nico had near perfect reliability with the same equipment. i believe nico's only dnf was when him and lewis took each other out at barcelona. this was also max's debut at RBR, which he won.

It is understood that Alpine reached out to Mattia Binotto to join the team, but he declined this initial offer.

Alpine is still evaluating its options, as pressure on Otmar Szafnauer grows.

dang, i wanted binotto back.
