You’re right. There’s no point to it, especially a guy like Verstappen who could get caught up in trouble in a race like this and comprise the Sunday actual race

I don’t think the sprint should impact grid order for the Grand Prix.
It just effectively makes the races 33% longer which I think negatively affects the importance Quali and the Grand Prix Sunday.

Relatively boring…
Come on F1, if you’re gonna do Sprints, embrace my idea, reverse grid set by the prior weeks GP finish.

reverse grid
I have no idea why failure should be rewarded.

Damn that was a big hole in the sidepod but that's racing. It's not like George just drove into the side. They were side by side for half a lap and max was stuck on the outside. Sometimes you just gotta give up the spot.
Give up? Its supposed to be racing not a parade. George ran out of talent in that corner and smashed into Max. That hole slowed down Max all race and prevented us from a potential late race RB vs RB fight.
Why didn’t George give up then if its so easy. Are we all so soft thet 2 racers can’t race side by side clean?

Are you talking about Bernie Collins? She knows her shite when it comes to F1.

Id say so, former team strategist.

Actually wouldn't mind a reverse grid if it had nothing to do with earning points.
Not sure if there is some way to reward with more tunnel time, cap space, or just straight cash money. Maybe 5% for 1st, 4.5% for 2nd, etc. And maybe also Gain .5% for every place you advance up to 10% for any race.
Keeping them in parc ferme is the biggest thing working against making sprints something other than just a restrained parade.

They have a budget cap now so there is zero need for parc ferme.
And it has always been dumb during sprint weekends. "Let's run a race and then run another race the next day with the exact same setups on the cars and expect something different to happen!"

quote:he was on the inside. You hang out on the outside long enough you're going to either get hit or hit the barrier especially on a street circuit. It's a case of risk vs reward. Max should have given up the spot then breezed back around on the straight. The merc is a pig

Max is a little bitch
George handled that confrontation perfectly

Max and George were both right today. George never ran Max out of room and never did anything terribly egregious. Max was slightly ahead in turn 2 and took the risk that George would back out.
Not sure stewards even took the contact under review because it was such nonsense.
This type of racing has been welcomed back in the last few years, somewhat because of how Max raced.

quote:I don't disagree but if I'm in that RB I don't take a chance at contact that may end my race. Max smacked the wall with the RR hard enough to have Tsunodaed his race. You gotta recognize that the second drs is enabled, Ichabod is toast.

Agree totally. Hamilton did this for years when the Merc was a powerhouse. Max will eventually capitulate when these situations come up.
You have the car to overtake them, just give it a chance. Killer instinct is killer instinct though, Max gonna have to fight it sometimes.

I mean seriously he cried about it the entire safety car period and then Racey spice melted after max made such a CLEAN pass on ichabod. I've watched F1 long enough to know they act like toddlers tossing their toys from the pram but give it a rest already. You're the 2 time defending world champion. Start acting like it.

To be fair Hamilton bitched about shite all the way through 8 WDC.
