played upper level challenger level competition so far.
Good catch. Paul will be a step up for him. Not to mention the bigger stage. Was hoping for odds closer to even. Might play Paul to win 3-1.

I think Novax beats everyone left in the field rather easily.
I know it’s different in a major, but Korda played a very competitive 3 setter with Novak a couple weeks ago in Adelaide. Think it was 6-7, 7-6, 6-4 Novak won.

Just a thought…
Did ESPN pull back on hyping coverage and highlights of the AO because no Naomi or Serena?
They haven’t gotten their talking heads to push/build buzz about the tournament on social or their other programs in the network.
It feels now like the tournament was more of a vehicle for their “W” initiatives before with the Men’s part being filler.

Maybe because of Serena, but I don’t think Naomi draws that much buzz. Also, Alcaraz and Kyrgios were out and Nadal didn’t make it into the second week.
And I feel like they always struggle to push the Australian Open, but as others have pointed out, the announcers and analysts not being there makes a huge difference as well.

They started pulling back their coverage last year and pushing everything to ESPN+. I think the last year was the first year they didn't televise any of the night sessions on the networks.

Normally I’d agree 100% but wouldn’t Shelton making the quarters be a dream scenario for them?
Unless you’re saying it was a pre-tourney decision, but if so I’m still surprised they aren’t changing course and jumping all over the Shelton story.

The announcers being in Bristol is almost tennis channel bad(during the day I watch the telecast she is calling then at night I see her playing tennis with her son in my neighborhood courts)The mouse cutting costs.

Lol no.
COVID gave them an excuse to save money.

Choke #1 on the night
Meh, I don't think Karen is choking this set, Korda played some nice shots to break back

Yeah I’m not even watching actually. Just when you see 4 easy holds then a pretty quick break it makes you think choke.

4 minibreaks on the first 4 points of the tiebreak

Korda choking

This is a good match. Neither guy is choking. Karen blasts serves and Korda loves cross courts.

Poor Korda. Had a chance then got injured.
