Please. If it would have been anyone else other than the most popular driver in the lead the yellow would have waved. He ain't done anything to earn most popular driver other than get shot out his daddy's willy...

Brah Keselowski was able to keep it under power and get it down on the apron. Even if Chase wasn't winning there it was still a good call by NASCAR to keep it under green.
But please continue your melt, it's glorious. Chase is gonna win a lot more races and a few more titles so you are gonna keep melting.

I'd rather go to bed. I've got to be at work in 6 hrs....
But I've watched this sport long enough to call a turd a turd.
& Fwiw, I liked Bill back in the day, but Chode is a punk. He gets away with more than any other driver because of the most popular title and its bs.

He's won fifteen races, a good amount of them at road courses no less, dipshit.

And if winning were a prerequisite for popularity, Kyle Busch would be the most popular driver in the sport. So that means it's how a driver carries themselves on and off the track that leads to their popularity.
I'll say it again, the ONLY reason Chase is so popular is that his daddy, deservedly, won most popular driver about eleventy billion times. But Chase doesn't carry himself like Bill and isn't humble like Bill either. Most of the time he comes off as arrogant and entitled. But you hayseeds can't see it because "He's awesome Bill's son!!!"

This is one of the longest and best melts in the history of this site. 7 hours and still going.
And FWIW, I've never seen Chase carry himself as an entitled prick

I'm not, I am not a Hendrick or Chase fan, but the kid has been the opposite of what you're describing every time I've been around him. Granted those aren't numerous so maybe you know better than me. From the kid I saw at Five Flags, to drinking in the infield at Kentucky with him, Blaney, and Bubba a few years ago, he has always seemed fairly grounded and genuine, albeit a bit dry personality wise. This was pre championship for him, pre Penske for Blaney, and pre door pull for Bubba, so maybe they've all changed since then.

I fell asleep and missed at least the last 30 or so laps, including the finish.
I see you guys kept it civil.

Brad got in an incident w/4 laps to go and he got it down To the apron under power, barely, and it stayed green. That is where the controversy is, but Chase still would of won caution or not.
The bigger question is: Why in the holy frick did the Gibbs cars pit for 2 tires when they were running 2nd and 3rd w/9 to go? I'd like to be a fly on the wall at JGR this morning. Kyle was livid and rightly so.
That is on top of Lonnie's epic melt.

Yeah you can't say that. And I'm not the only one that has the opinion that NOT throwing the caution flag there was a crap move by nascar....

It’s no secret that NASCAR race control has jumped the gun on caution flags in the past.
On Sunday at Nashville, however, the opposite occurred, and it didn’t make it any better.
quote:
You can see why the sanctioning body would be hesitant to do so. After all, the All-Star Race was a nightmare of social media backlash after race control waved the yellow for a minor incident with leader Blaney mere feet from the white flag.
This time feels a little different, however. It is a little suspicious that officials opted to keep the race going as the series’ most popular driver was leading his way to a win. Plus, it was already Monday morning, and it’s easy to think that everybody was ready to get out of Nashville after what had been a long Sunday evening.
So call it a Melt if you want, I'll STILL call it a Turd...

Had they thrown the caution they would have had the opposite take to call out race control.
"NASCAR race control, already under scrutiny after the debacle in Texas for the All Star race, once again throw a late caution that leads to manufactured drama. With two laps to go Brad Keslowski had a wheel go down and had a spin, he was able to get down to the access road out of the racing groove and off the racing surface with no discernible debris on the track to warrant a caution. Chase Elliot was cruising to a win with a six car length lead still growing as faster cars were working their way back through the field after a late race caution led to a number of the top runners to grab fresh Goodyears for a late race run..."
You're entitled to your opinion, and I know many who will agree with you. If this race was ran as expected with no red flags and not into the next day I think the flag comes out just to double check for debris, and to give the guys who stopped for tires a chance to make it exciting. It didn't though. You were seven hours into a 300 lap race and had already been moved to a secondary channel. The car was off the surface and there were no debris shining on the concrete surface with two to go. I and many others have no issue with the caution being held back and the green staying out.

And you just NAILED my problem with the call. It doesn't matter that there were 7 hours of delays. Calls should be consistent and this one wasn't.
Let me ask the crowd this. Why does Nascar throw cautions in the first place? Safety. And Safety doesn't change based on what time of the day or night it is or how long we were in a red flag condition. It's the same, and it's why the call should always be the same. Nascar got lucky that nothing else happened (like another car spinning off the track and hitting the 6 at high speed), but that doesn't make the call right.
