OMG Grosjean doing Grosjean things in Practice 2. He was on a hot lap, but came upon a group of four cars on an out lap trying to space themselves out. Grosjean had plenty of visibility on the straight to see them but let off the throttle too late, braked as hard as he could, but plowed hard into Sato. Grosjean limped back to the pits but Sato's rear end was too damaged and he came to a stop. That was a bad enough incident that Grosjean should get a penalty.
Edit: the twitter responses to this incident are hilariously varied.
1. IndyCar needs to change the rules to avoid cars piling up on their out laps. (Fair comment, but blame still needs to be assigned for this incident.)
2. Must be Grosjean's fault because he has always been reckless.
3. Must be Sato's fault because he has always been reckless.
4. Grosjean's spotter should have warned him about the slow cars.
5. The spotters for all the slow cars should have told them to get out of the way.
I think the key here is that there were four slow cars in a bunch, going around the corner (the first two cars) and entering the corner (Sato and the 4th car) when Grosjean caught up to them. It was unfortunate timing, but with that many slow cars, Grosjean should have given up his fast lap. Even if you blame a spotter for the incident occurring, it's the driver that gets punished, if warranted. I'm curious to see if any punishment is doled out for this incident.

Damn, 2021 champ Alex Palou clipped the wall at the apex of a corner I think, and went head-on into the outside wall. No tires there, just a big crunching sound when he hit. He climbed out but that had to hurt.

I think I’m in the minority but I would love for Indy to adapt a F1 style constructor competition. 3 cars for each team and have them run the same livery.
I think it would build more connections with the fans.

Following up on above - Indy has great teams
Chip / Penske / Andretti / Foyt / Rahal / McClaren
Them all have 3 cars and total points would be interesting for me.

In for hopefully another great season like last year...
Grosjean I want him to win one if not a few...
Will be cheering for Sato in Dale Coyne...really like that little team..
And can Pat'o win enough to get that F1 look

If they can get a couple of more manufacturers then I think they can open up a competition. I’m not a big fan of teams having the same livery. I think drivers having their own livery helps create their own identity.

Top six in qualy:
1. Scott McLaughlin on pole!
2. Will Power
3. Colton Herta
4. Rinus VeeKay
5. Romain Grosjean
6. Simon Pagenaud
I've been a fan of VeeKay and McLaughlin since last year, so I'm real happy to see these results. I'd like to see both get some race wins this year. Nice result for Meyer Shank Racing as well.

I don't really follow it, but went to the Indy race at Barber Motorsports years ago and was thinking about going this year. Why isn't it on the schedule?

Well, I guess I missed it all three times I scanned the schedule.
Guess I'll be there.

Just watched the incident.
Those slow cars need to get out of the way. They blocked the whole corner. Grosjeans spotter should have told him that none of them were actually moving.
But really the whole group needs to get going or get off the racing line. They can't block a whole corner just because.

5 minutes of commercials every 8 laps is incredible. I can’t wait for F1 to kick back off.

First caution 25 laps in. Good, clean race so far.

All of the commercials are making it really hard to get into this race.

good race when on ..agree too many commercials..

I love how you have no idea who's going to win because of the different tire strategies (and the timing of the inevitable full-course yellows).

I get the feeling Herta is going to sneak this...
And will love to see how Luungard does in Indy
