Video evidence shows Leclerc exceeding track limits in Q1 on his only lap.

What a shitshow it may become if RBR appeal to prove a point. Unsure if they can because they didn't appeal before Q2.

Ric winning again would be epic.

*No, I don't think there is much chance of it happening. But it would be epic.

I think the grid positions are not decided still. Alonso tweeted he would be starting in 7th.

Williams with a better average starting position than RBR and Merc....how's that for a 2022 headline.

It usually works that way. The event needs to be challenged or under review.

But the FIA is the FIA.

De Vries and Goatifi in the top ten.

This oughta be a wreck at turn one.

The FIA says "it won't be pressured" by any Formula 1 teams on matters such as superlicence points, and the indications are that Colton Herta's claim will be rejected.

I think that is the right move by the FIA right now.

They should definitely re-evaluate Indy points though. Not sure if they should get more pts than F2, but it should count for something. Even if it just means being Indy 1&2 are auto qualifiers.

FIA doesn't want drivers coming from Indycars. They want them to come up through FIA controlled junior series.

Matty also said allowing Herta in devalues the drivers academies all the bigger teams have.

They're protecting their club.

It definitely does, and I don't blame the FIA for doing what they do. They built the system, they put

The FIA is eventually going to have to address the F2 to F1 issue that is happening. These FIA drivers don't want to go to DTM, FE, or other series, but they don't want to go to Indy or else they drop off the map.

Yeah, I'd have to see how everything breaks down.

Risk lack of exposure in the US vs only getting to run one year in F2 then go to the US?

If Indy gets a lot of pts just for finishing top 5 then it will kill F2.

Herta and every Indy driver knows F1 is a long shot. They chose their path a long time ago.

Frankly I'd be surprised if Indycar would welcome FIA raising the superlicense points awarded as they do not want to be seen as a feeder series.

ehhhh. It's not always their choice. If a guy isn't picked up by one of the academies they are looking at stacks of cash to buy a seat in the junior series.

Herta actually did run a bit in Europe and I gather lack of fundage is why he left.

Is there a chance that RBR lodged a complaint during Q1? We would have heard about it by now, right?

Penalizing Charles (including all the hearings to determine it) would definitely explain the delay in announcing the grid.

Lastly...Chris Medland tweeted this out a little while ago.

I've seen the process that the FIA uses to decide the grid and it appears to take the former way of just applying penalties and then closing up the grid, but now apply penalties, freeze only those penalised, then close up the grid #F1 #ItalianGP
