in the current circumstances.
I don’t think this is an official cancellation as much as it’s just kicking the can down the road for a “wait and see”.
I think it should/will be cancelled but I don’t think this statement makes it officially official yet.

Yeah leaving the door open to reschedule… cowards.

If Russia throws enough money at it, they will have a race.
F1 is not above money.

So maybe just not above middle eastern money.

I deleted my instagram and Reddit for the next few weeks for work, bad time. I’m very curious as to how the Mazepin seat shakes out.
I’ll feel bad for Nikita if he gets the boot because of this, it’s not his fault even if his dad is rich because of his connections.
As many on here have said, HAAS just has the worst luck when it comes to sponsors. “Just wait until next year”

When you buy a seat, better make sure the money comes through

I didn’t read that tweet as “officially cancelled”
I read it as “if the race was tomorrow, we wouldn’t have it.”

You can bet your arse they're already shopping for whichever driver can provide the most funding ASAP.
Don't be surprised to see this move quickly and someone replaces Nikita prior to the next test session in 2 weeks in Bahrain to get some seat time ahead of the season opener.
I think Nikita is a shite driver and probably a douche just like everyone else but I do sort of feel bad for him. He's in a no win situation where if he doesn't speak out against Russia the masses will call for his head, and if he does speak out then he'll likely be putting himself/his family potentially at risk.

If I was him, I’d just delete all social media and accept that I’m getting the boot this year, and hope that next season he will have a seat somewhere.

Hulkenback. Let's goooooo

Kyvat is in the same situation. He was a reserve driver last year and may still hold his license.

I would imagine these is a lot of legalese in what has to happen with that contract. F1 coming out and saying certain things could cost a lot of money.

That’s what I thought. F1 waits for this to blow over and then by the time Russia comes, all will be forgotten.

If they make the swap it'll be someone that comes with financial backing. Hulk has said he doesn't want to be in a back marker team but maybe he's had a change of heart but I still don't see it being him.
I could see it being Antonio though. He's got backing, he's got experience, he's got Ferrari ties, and Ferrari still want an Italian in F1.

RoGro might make a return if they don't go with a young driver.
Ferrari has Schwartzman as well, but Russian.
I can definitely see them have someone test in Bahrain to get their superlicense, if needed.

Doesn't Andretti have a son/nephew that is still racing or viable for F1? That could be interesting to see, somewhat as a precursor to Andretti trying to get into Indy.

Jeremey Clarkson coming in hot on Twitter:
"Nikita Mazepin. You fricking retard. Go and race in Russia on your own. You’d still lose."
Jeremey finds someone in hot water and just jumps right in with them.
I am not saying the Russia issue doesn't deserve air time but it is a damn shame this Russia issue is THE story in F1 today when we had cars on track albeit not aired.
While you shouldn't draw anything from testing time I am pretty confident Merc is off the pace. Those late C5 runs to get to the top of the timesheet look like some crumbs for their fans. It is just not like Mercedes to do short runs on gumball tires in early testing. Two things: they still might be sandbagging but it has a different feel than normal sandbagging from the Brackley boys, however, they are also the best at developing a car in-season so even if they are off the pace it doesn't mean they will still be at the next tests.
The RB18 in the hands of Max quietly put in the most impressive laps of the day. This bothers me because the only thing nearly as bad as continued Mercedes domination would be another RBR dominant period. The only buoy for me is LeClerc had the most impressive single lap of the test session with his 1:19.689 on C3 tires on the third lap of a 17 lap run where all the remaining laps stayed in the low 1:20s.
