Cheezit did a good job with this bowl. They spent a lot of money on branding this. That mascot is pretty cool too. Much better bowl game than it sounds on paper.
Then, the bowl just kind of makes fun of itself and makes it all for fun. Like the Mayo Bowl. The duct tape Mayo Bowl Trophy was hilarious.

Hell, even Missouri has more wins than Iowa, and Missouri has been a side show, joke for many decades during their program. They used to be a team, teams would schedule, to say they pounded a p5 program.

Iowa is not in the top 20 in win % or total wins. 2 rose bowl wins in the 50’s and 1 orange bowl win in 2009. 5 big10 championships. Not stuff to be really bragging about but I guess if you want to make Iowa State feel small that works.

Exactly. I agree. When the sponsors have fun with it, the teams and fans enjoy it much more. It’s not “meaningless” if people are enjoying it. I’d like to see other bowl games like the Texas bowl get creative and really market these much better than they do.
For example, go out and get a sponsor like blue bell or Dr Pepper for the Texas Bowl. Really push the whole cliche Texas culture thing. Cowboy hats everywhere. NASA themed. Dump ice cream on the winning coach. Players all eat ice cream to celebrate. Get the Houston Rodeo association more involved and have them coordinate events along side the actual Rodeo. Houston is wasting a good opportunity. They could and should have a much better bowl than they do. It’s already got a good conference tie in.
