"Cowboys have agreed to a one-year contract with Rams LS Jake McQuaide, source said. Plans to sign deal Wednesday, reuniting him w/ ST coordinator John Fassel. End of era: L.P. Ladouceur, who turned 40 Sunday, appeared in 253 games with Cowboys, two shy of Jason Witten's record."

Not a fan of this...

I’ll take the opinion of the greatest o line coach in the history of the sport over yours, no offense

Nothing in there about arm length.

"That [expletive] is way overrated," he told reporters on Friday afternoon.

What part dont you like? They have to have someone long snapping. If the dude retired then what else can you do but sign a free agent or spend a draft pick on one.

I wouldnt be a fan of drafting one

That's why I said I t matters or is perceived to matter. There is no doubt that arm length matters to some if not most gms . Over the years their have been guys drop for that reason at tackle

Maybe it would be better to say, over the years I've heard mel kiper and other draft analysts say numerous times that such and such tackle is dropping because of arm measurements at the combine .

Maybe kiper doesnt know that a lot of gms dont believe it though or maybe some do and others dont

Yeah I understand that some teams overrate that part of the evaluation, my entire point was that school of thought is changing

He didn't retire? He came out the other day and said at least another year.

I never said they got him hurt more than anyone else did. Im saying they definitely didnt get him hurt less. They dont know how to "manage injury prone TEs" better than anyone else.

Jeez, talking with homers is fricking impossible sometimes.

Is their Anybody around here that knows enough about o line play to give a real opinion on that? If so,anybody like slater better?

OL coach checking in.

Sewell offers more in pass protection in my opinion. Longer, athletic tackles are needed to hold up in 1-on-1's. Slater is a beast though. Very versatile, whereas Sewell is just simply not going to allow many QB pressures in his career unless he completely falls off.

I didn’t say they did. Simply that they have experience in dealing with oft injured TEs and how to still be successful with them on and off the field

Such a hot homer take for me to say Gronk had a very successful career with the Patriots I know.

You said they minimized his career. So unless we have different definitions of the word, you deffinitly did

The quoted part made it seem like they didnt have the option to bring back the old vet so they did this instead of drafting one .either way it's not a move that would garner much of an opinion, I would think. That's coming from a cowboys fan

I gotcha. I was just clarifying what I meant when I said arm length matters. It was more of me saying ,it matters to someones draft stock because it's still a school of thought by some gms

Sewell is the pick for a team who is going to drop Burrow back 40-50 times per game. If this was a different offense/situation, Slater may be more well-rounded.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll has a high opinion of Sam Darnold and could end up trading for the Jets quarterback if Seattle deals Russell Wilson, a league source told @NYDNSports today.

“Keep an eye on Seattle for Darnold,” the source said.

Anytime you can trade for one of the worst QBs in the league to replace a top 5 QB on a reasonable contact with 4 years left, ya gotta do it
