Thanks Martinez for wasting Flaherty’s gem. Good thing Gallegos and Carpenter came to the rescue. The Voit trade eventually worked itself out.

Pfft, he's done enough since his handling of the bullpen in the 2016 world series.

Maddon is gone and Ricketts will tie the hands of Theo and Jed because "we have no money" yet they're starting their exclusive network for next season.

Tom Ricketts is effectively P.K. Wrigley without the gum. So long as butts are in the seats at Wrigley nobody gives a shite about the quality of play on the field. It's why they went so long during the 50s to the late 70s without a championship team. Sure, there was that flash of hope during the late 60s, early 70s but Wrigley didn't care. You wonder why Lee Elia had his rant about the fricking 15 percent that doesn't work and shows up. At least Elia gave a shite about the turd he was expected to polish.

Just like the TAF during the Les Miles era. For the longest time they didn't give a shite so long as Tiger Stadium was filled at kickoff.

Yet, I have hope Cubs fans are more fickle than that and will demand a better team on the field. Time will only tell.

Patriot, yes. Managing a ballclub, questionable. The Tribune company did the same thing in the beginning by hiring Dallas Green as GM and they made the postseason for the first time in 34 years in 1984. How did that work out? Jack shite.

Granted he has had more success compared to the Tribune Company but it seems as if since the 2016 World Series win, he's been resting on his laurels. There has been no significant improvement to the team with the talented core they have since then. The window is closing quick.

Like the announcers were asking, who was the last young pitcher drafted and developed in the Cubs' system? Carlos Zambrano?

Doesn't sound good on Wong, calling it a mild strain and MRI in the morning. At least we can absorb that with Edman at 2nd and Carp at 3rd even as good as Wong has been.

By no means am I cheering an injury, and I hope he gets back as quickly as he can. But faaaaack Kolten Wong is such a gnat.

Dude is such a scrappy player and always seems to make a great play on defense when it hurts the most. Or gets the seeing eye single with 2 strikes after a 47 pitch AB. At least against the Cubs these things seem to happen. I’d take him on my team for sure but dang he is annoying on the other side.

Yeah he's got the gold glove locked up for 2B in the NL, 5 WAR player this year.

Can do it all really. 24 stolen bases, .285avg .361obp, 106 OPS+, and a gold glove incoming. Hell of a season for him and hopefully it's not over.

Good question. Used to be they'd have pitching for days out the farm system. Now they have decent position players but hardly any pitching.

This is what I’m expecting even though we’re clear of the hamels, zobrist, morrow, etc contracts. I fully expect to go into next season with no meaningful upgrades, just like we did this year.

Yup. I'm starting to think the "Not Tom Ricketts" twitter account is actually Tom Ricketts.

Will the Cubs resign Castellanos, or is he going to get too many offers?

He's been one of my favorite Cardinals for a while. He's always been a guy that plays better when he plays more.

The previous manager really fricked his head and probably stunted his development. We should have been seeing this type of production from him for a few years now.

And he should have won the gold glove last year.

Is anyone else concerned about the Brewers? I mean...they should get to 90 wins...naybe 91. Host pirates then off to Cinncy and Denver. Not out of the question to sweep the pirates and 2 of 3 the others or get another sweep against apx. .440 teams. The cubs, to me, really only have a shot at the wildcard now due to Nats going to Philly and hosting Cleveland. I see the Nats at 88 maybe 89 games. Can the Cardinals get to 91 or 92 wins to neat the Brewers? Chi isnt going to roll over with disinterest regardless how far back they are due to the rivalry. Az is formidable and on the back end of the road trip. Everyone seems to be focusing onv the Cards Cub slugfest but....Mil has a downhill sprint to the finish

I haven't been a fan of a lot of things recently, but I think there will be a major overhaul after this season.
