Not blaming the STM player but I wonder if instead of getting the big hit in, If he holds him up does the clock run out, he caught it with 4 seconds left.
I imagine it's the same thing as we saw in the Texans/Saints game week 1
as soon as the WR catches it he can declare himself down and call the timeout immediately

Ehret comes back from trailing in the fourth quarter and knocks off Chalmette 35-34 in overtime... Chalmette missed a few chances to win

It was not that.
CHS had three defensive stops the whole night. Two of those were turnovers.
STM had three also. One was a turnover on downs. The other two were stops forcing punts.
The QB and WE (Bech) are legit. They feasted on CHS' DBs being significantly shorter than Bech. Their RBs are short and got lost behind their line on running plays (and were good, strong runners).
It really was going to come down to who had the ball last. I was concerned CHS had fricked itself with its TO usage, but apparently it was just enough.
It was an incredible game. Great atmosphere. It's cliche, but it really was a shame either team had to lose.

All of that is true, however, chs should have known better than to give a 10 yard cushion to all of the stm wideouts on every play all night long. They just took what chs gave them man. Horrible defensive scheme and coaching by chs and it should have cost them the game, minus the miracle deflection reception that set chs up for the game winning fg. That defensive scheme really boggled my mind. They didn't even try to change it up regardless of stm constantly taking advantage of it and scoring every time they touched the ball. It was nothing but timing routes all night long and they didn't adjust. They could have at least tried to knock them off their routes to mess their timing up and at least give their pass rush time to get to the qb. Hell, they didn't even show press or head up coverage contending their wrs all night long. They could have showed the 10 yard cushion, and tried jumping those short out routes and routes in the flat also, but they didn't. I just don't understand what their coaches were thinking was going to change after stm continued to do the same thing over and over again and continued to eat them alive with it. You have to try different shite if they continue to take advantage and exploit what you're doing...hell, that's football 101. You have to make adjustments and none were ever made. They should have lost that game and it would have been their defensive coordinators fault. It was a joke. Curtis is gonna run through catholic like a hot knife through butter anyway. If they couldn't stop stms rushing attack, Curtis is going to rape them all game long.

My wife was losing her shite about it (she actually knows football).
It's clear STM had looked at the Carr and UHigh film. Carr showed CHS is vulnerable to the slant and passes to middle of field and UHigh showed that they can be "got" with 10-15 yard out routes when they are trying to take that slant away.
It looks like that the defensive formations or personnel schemes for CHS were tipping the coverage package and STM took advantage.
I will say Robertson's INT near the end of the 1st half (setting up CHS' tying score right at the half) was a thing if beauty but likely would have been a TD if he hadn't caught it.

I listened a bit to the Karr game and they said Catholic was missing a bunch of DBs to injury. They started a freshman at corner. The schedule Fertitta put together has a price, but they still won the games.

Catholic got outcoached bad last night but their athletes, toaston, and their studs at rb bailed them out on offense. I just figured the coaches would have realized what stm was doing and at least tried to change it up but it never happened. It was surprising to say the least. Whatever, they won the game and that's what you want but they have to learn to adjust on the fly during the game...especially when getting abused so obviously by the same thing lol. Geaux Tigers.

We don’t get to see a lot of potential great playoff matchups with the split now, but kudos to Catholic for scheduling big games during the season.

To be fair, STM has all of the skill position prospects. The Catholic RBs should be bigger prospects.
Catholic has the best coaching staff in the state. They’ve done just fine winning big games, getting to the dome and winning state titles.

They had no choice. They don’t have a kicker. They went for 2 all night.
Needless to say it was a great atmosphere and a great win for the Lions. McMain parents were fighting in the street after the game. They were not happy
